Shuttle Success
« on: July 26, 2005, 12:45:00 pm »
Woke up this morning in time for the launch of the Space Shuttle, the first in nearly 2 1/2 years. It was great to see that the shuttle successfully launched this time around. What happened last time was terrible and hopefully will never happen again.

http://www.nasa.gov has some interesting images/videos of the space exploration.

It is possible that they launch this shuttle into the air, flys out of site and orbits around the upper part of the atmosphere until it comes down at night in Area 51, where they shoot video of the "moon" and relay it on TV.

Anything is possible.
Love many, trust few and don\'t be late.

well its just too bad that our space program is geared towards finding natural resources to exploit to we can continue our lavish, materialistic lifestyle.  i mean who cares about a deeper understanding of the universe we live in when we could make MONEY off of it?

I care about a deeper understanding of the universe.

Like, where is space? They say it is infinitie but where does that put us. It is really a trippy subject when you really begin to think about the depth and unstability and what we don\'t know that happens out there.

quantum physics is beginning to unveil some of those mysteries and is bridging the gap between science and spirituality.

It\'s supernatural that\'s why it blows your mind. :)

Quantum Physics has made some serious advancements in the last few years. I await to see the results of the Deep Impact, hopefully, not like the Mars mission where the returning capsule plummeted into earth.

what really blows my mind is how the physical is all very explainable, the big bang, and the organization of matter advancing and evolving to eventually create humans, but what i just can for the life of me grasp is our awareness and consciousness.  like...  what is that observer inside of me that is aware of all the functions my brain is carrying out?  what is my soul?  where was it before Jim Cobb was born and where will it be after i die?  i know my mind (not my brain) is a powerful thing that is capable of things beyond what i know it to be capable of.  i know my mind is part of something larger than physical existence...  i know there is part of my brain that undergoes the most work at any given time and that is the part that convinces my consciousness that there is some sort of disctinction between me and not-me.  if the brain needs to work so furiously to convince me that i am a different entity from everything around me (necessary for survival and self orientation), it might make sense that in actuality i am not a different entity from everything else around me and that the belief that i am seperate only facilitates my physical existence...  hmmmm.....

I\'ll I\'m trying to say is don\'t try to make space a math equation, it\'s super-natural, leave it at that.

If you want to believe in the essence of the supernatural, go right ahead, you can believe what you want and have the right to.
However,
IMO, EVERYTHING has an explaination and can be explained. Math is the language of science. There are very few things that can\'t be explained and that is because we don\'t understand them yet.
Maybe, Quantum Physics is a tough concept to grasp (I was excused from Physics in High School, because it bored me) but still the truth is out there. I for one do not believe in the supernatural as a power.
