I am not a huge go to the theater movie goer in the first place. I usually will wait to go rent a dvd before I go to the theater unless it is an epic movie.

does anyone know who anchorman is suppose to be based on or is it just based on the time when women were second to men in the field of news reporting and it is just a generalization of what happened in the era?

Im pretty sure it\'s just a generalization, and the wacky antics inside Will Ferrels head.
This isn\'t who it would be if it wasn\'t who it is.

saw it last night, HILARIOUS. havent laughed like that in a theater in a long time.. waaayyy beter than anchorman. vince vaughn redeemed himself after watching him throw out the most terrible first pitch at a cubs game ive ever seen. definitely see this movie, i was surprised at how funny it was.

alright, im gonna go crash a funeral. peace.

and yeah, fuck anchorman. way overrated.

funniest part of that movie was jack black\'s cameo. other than that, nothing that really stands out in my mind.

A great film critic from the Wall St. Journal thought it was great.

On another note, I\'ve never heard of \'Anchorman\'.

I actually watched a little of anchorman yesterday, it\'s stupid funny, not that great but not that bad.

With Charlie and his Factory, I have heard that it does not live up to the original, most don\'t when it comes to remakes. However, it is probably worth seeing just so you can form your own opinion.

Well what I am most intersted in is that it suposedly is much closer to the book than the original movie. And although Gene Wilder IS Willy Wonka in my mind, Johnny Depp is a fabulous actor with great interpretive powes so I can;t wait to see where he takes it and what personal touch he adds to the character.

Not a huge fan of Anchoreman either.

man, i was a little hesitant about WC, but not after seeing this thread.

w/out Steve Carell (Brick), Anchorman would have sucked.  "I killed a guy with a trident!"

oh, spacey to answer your early question about whether anchorman was based on anyone.  at the beginning of the movie it is stated:  "Based on actual events. Only
the people, places and events have been changed."

I saw that. I was just wondering if it actually was based on a specific person or if it was just a generalization of the era.

I am google this mother fucking question, Who and Where was the 1st Female Anchor!

Brick did make the movie. Funny how weather people haven\'t changed, still no idea how to think.

I grew tired of waiting for you, looks like we ended up on the same page.  I never knew this:

1974 - Ella Grasso was the first woman elected Governor in her own right (Connecticut).
