MTV, VH1 to show Live8

MTV and VH1 will telecast eight hours of the Live 8 concerts on July 2, the networks said Wednesday. The performances, featuring artists U2, Coldplay, Madonna, Dave Matthews Band, Jay-Z and Destiny\'s Child among many others, are being held in eight cities to raise awareness of poverty in Africa.

The telecast is a repeat performance for MTV, which showed the Live Aid concerts two decades ago. Like Live Aid, the Live 8 performances are being organized by Bob Geldof.

America Online, which owns the U.S. rights to the concerts and will beam them on the Internet, is also negotiating with ABC for a prime-time telecast on July 2 following the cable TV coverage.

MTV, VH1 and MTV\'s college network mtvU will be on the air with the same feed from noon to 8 p.m. EDT that day, switching back and forth from different sites and also presenting packaged reports, like a look back at Live Aid.

Related networks CMT and VH1 Classic will air concert highlights the next day featuring artists geared to their audiences.

Bart: [sighs] Oh, how can someone with glasses that thick be so
          stupid?  Listen: you don\'t have a soul, I don\'t have a soul,
there\'s no such thing as a soul!
Milhouse: [smug] Fine.  If you\'re so sure about that, why don\'t you sell
          your soul to me?
Bart: [pause] How much you got?
Milhouse: Five bucks.
    Bart: Deal.
Love many, trust few and don\'t be late.

Milhouse: ohh...it can swim, and it\'s even got wheels incase you die in the desert it can drive back to the graveyard

(06-27-2005) EMI to Release Live 8 on DVD

Monday June 27, 2005 @ 03:00 PM
By: ChartAttack.com Staff

Bob Geldof

Giving away free tickets for a charity concert makes little sense, especially when raising awareness isn\'t nearly as beneficial as raising funds.

Live 8has just announced it\'s teaming up with music giant EMI for a worldwide deal for the Live 8 performances happening on July 2. According to the agreement, EMI will provide a large financial contribution to the Live 8 organization in exchange for the worldwide DVD rights to its concerts in the UK, Canada, US, France, Germany and Italy.

The concerts include performances by Bryan Adams, Bon Jovi, Coldplay, Sheryl Crow, Deep Purple, Dido, Green Day, Jay-Z, Elton John, Annie Lennox, Linkin Park, Madonna, Maroon 5, Paul McCartney, Pink Floyd, REM, Scissor Sisters, Sting, Joss Stone, U2, Keith Urban, Velvet Revolver, Robbie Williams, Brian Wilson and Stevie Wonder.

"We are very grateful to EMI for their financial contribution which helped to make the July 2nd concerts happen everywhere on the planet and thus nudge the world a little closer towards our shared aim," said Bob Geldof. "I hope this will be the biggest selling DVD of all time. It deserves to be."

Geldof isn\'t the only one excited. EMI Music Canada President Deane Cameron is just as keen. "On its own, the Toronto area show already boasts an astonishing line-up of artists," he said.

For further info on artists performing at the concerts, go to the Live 8 website.

I would think this will probably be 3 different dvd\'s(3 venues) to get the most donations for the fund. Which would be nice if each is complete. I would rather that than a "best of Live 8" w/ bits from each venue.
Worrying is like praying for something you don't want.

Anyone know an exact time Pink Floyd is playing at Live 8 this afternoon??
This isn\'t who it would be if it wasn\'t who it is.

they should play "Alan\'s Psychedelic Breakfast" for twenty minutes instead of Breathe>Comf.Numb>Wish You Were Here :)
Not sure what is gonna transpire. Regardless, we ain\'t gonna forget the gravy.
