Trey Played With Carlos?
« on: June 05, 2005, 10:50:56 am »
Has anyone else heard this? Last night in Atlanta, Trey shows up and sits in with Santana for about an hour. Not sure what songs they played or what happened but I guess most people didn\'t even know who he was. Rumor is, he walks on stage, out of the light, and just starts jamming. People didn\'t even know he was on stage for a few songs. I believe he might be in the area, remixing or working on a cd. I will try to figure out more from my source. Hopefully someone recorded this.

They have been friends for a long time. Trey must be getting restless with no tour dates in the near future.

Back in 92 when Phish opened for Santana at SPAC I remember Trey and Carlos trading some sick guitar solos.   Def worth a listen if it was taped.

I think all of 1992 was the year Phish opened for Santana. I know that they have been friends since. I just have yet to recieve any concrete information that Trey actually sat in with Carlos last week. Rumor has it, that no one in the audience even knew who Trey was. I assume a few people did but the majority did not. I also heard that he played the first couple of songs in the dark out of plain view.

Dave, I understood what you meant and realized only a recording and pictures are concrete evidence. This is just a reliable source that confirmed my suspicsions.

Now,

You say Tim met Jim Morrison last night?
I remember, last time I heard, Jim was out in Washington as an American Cowboy.

From Relix.com( a fairly reliable source to some)  : During Santana’s New York stop last night, the guitarist also nodded to his longtime producer, Clive Davis, who helped restore his pop career with 1999’s Supernatural. Also of note, on June 4, as Santana’s tour rolled through Atlanta, Trey Anastasio guested on a sandwich of “Venus” and “Upper Egypt,” as well as a Los Lonely Boys-bolstered version of “Boogie Women.”

Fuckin\' Sweet gig for him. I would LOVE to hear Trey and Ron tear the shit up on stage and leave Keith looking like the ragged hack he has become.
