amazing.
for some reason, a few weeks ago when i looked at this show and decided i wanted to go, i thought it was about a 1.5 hour drive from new haven. not sure exactly what i was looking at, because it\'s really a 3+ hour drive. was committed to go though, and went through with it..
after experiencing this venue last night, i can say that i won\'t ever miss another b\'fast show there ever again. and i\'d hit this place every time if it were 5 hours away.
after hearing numerous folks on here rave about the food at BC, we got there a little early and sat down to eat. the food was indeed fantastic. had my self some portabello ******** bruchetta, and shrimp & scallops over angel hair with artichoke hearts and tomatos.. SO freakin\' good. possibly the best food ever at a b\'fast venue.
the band played outside in the \'barn\' for the first time (they\'ve played inside the actual castle before).. as the night went on, i was really taken back to the days of PB playing at the Powder Hollow Barn - same kind of venue, extremely chill \'free-for-all\', and an incredible vibe. only this place had a bar inside, and a nice big campfire outside, to boot. i\'d have to say that it was impossible to NOT have a good time at this place.
the show: wow. definitely of epic proportions. ran about 3 hours total, with the first set coming in aroung 1:17, and the second set around 1:40. the opening jam and the HLH jam hit heavy out of the gates.. HLH sounded like there were about 6 different teases within, but i couldn\'t put my finger on anything for sure..
the big-ass sandwich that followed was excellent. the jam > CMSS almost sounded like a WTF jam at first, but then changed its course and went to CMSS. seemed like people were really into CSR, which is good, because one of the reasons it was shelved in the first place is because the band thinks no one likes it..
the rest of the set hit hard, with people bouncing profusely to BB.. the Batman jam was great, in honor of the band getting shit on by bats before the show. SOS/ITF - great way to close a great set!
second set\'s standouts for me were definitely the Buquebus and the LAW>ATSD. didn\'t think tim was ever gonna stop with the \'thoughts\', as i tried like hell to get whatever i could into my cell phone.. the FFT>Dig segue is beyone predictable at this point, so that was kind of a letdown.. but if that\'s my biggest complaint of the show, shit, i can deal with it.
encore was good as well. was actually pretty beat at that point (well past 2am), and was hoping for a short one.. good way to go out.
show gets an
8.98/10 from me.
huge thanks to mike for driving ALL the way home. was supposed to only drive half, then wake me up for the rest, but to my surprise, i woke up in Hamden, CT! :holyshit: road warrior. confirmed.
Klout - i was dying to meet you! there was a lot of
\'do you know who Klout is?\' talk going around, but no one could ever say yes.. next time.. wish i coulda met some of you other upstate folks as well..
oh yeah, TRB - the bar was outta RB when we got there! and it was the combination of A-Rush and No Fear that got mikey through the entire ride home... w00t!
great seeing everyone else as well! had a pretty strong amount of CT folks in the house, and i\'m sure NO ONE regrets making this trip!
see some of you tomorrow!
each set was, I think in the neighborhood of 1:50 to 2:00 each :awwyeah:
old age = sense of time: gone!
