Thanks for your feedback on this.  alex DeFelice and I were discussing it even before I saw this thread.

I guess the problem is in part that the band makes good money at the Webster...about 2k, even on a soft night.  Noy being cynical, that money pays bills incurred when they go into new areas or soft markets.   It helps pay stuff like the tour press support which we hope will ultimately help grow these new areas.

That being said, I tend to agree with you and the band probably has thought about it.

Unfortuately I\'m not quite sure what we could replace it with that makes sense.

I might suggest that Alex find out what it might cost to rent Cheney Hall and do our own show there.  Any thoughts about that?

What is the ticket at Webster now....10?

Vic, if they make good money there, how about trimming down the number of opening acts and let the band play play play play...

currently I would pay $15 for an evening with the Breakfast, just the Breakfast.

preshow music > breakfast > setbreak music > breakfast > post show music

It was $14 at the door.  Cheney Hall is a great idea!

thanks steffmo for posting your thoughts!  i would much prefer to see the band at toads, porters, or sullys.  although i\'m thinking maybe sullys is too small these days.  that place freddie mentioned is intriguing.  and i don\'t know where cheney hall is.  but anything has to be better than the webster!

that said, i certainly don\'t begrudge the band making money...they should do so whenever they can so they can keep playing and getting their music out there!  it\'s just that, for me (and obviously i\'m not alone on this), it\'s hard for me to justify spending what little money i have on a show where i can\'t hear the band.

hopefully a solution can be reached on this issue.  thanks to steffmo for taking an interest in what the fans think!

no,ive been to living room a million times.
the best thing about it is the "freedom"we have there.
they dont have guinness, only murphys.thats not good..
honestly, the call has showed us what a venue in providence should be like..

Guiness in a bottle. I refuse to drink anything on tap there. The Call is prolly one of my favorite venues in Prov. there are a couple other hidden jems that don\'t get many visits to. The Green Room/ Snookers, good place, Club Ultra, there are a couple others too. Theres a real good funk fusion band up hear that would make for a ser double bill (Fungus Amungus).

If we play the Webster again we will get come control of the openners.  They picked them this time, and the fact is they brought in ZERO people between them.

Sully\'s I don\'t think is big enough, though maybe in a particular incident.

I\'m going to investigate the Cheney Hall thing a bit.  Its a totally cool room in Manchester.  We have to pay for everything......but i think it might fly.

The Green Room is pretty sweet, I like the set up. Didn\'t know Ultra put on shows, thought it was just a techno/dance club type. I\'ve heard good things about the new GiZa place other than the location. Fungus opened for PB at the Living Room, I think it was last year, I threw a keg of Guinness at Jordan (sax player) apartment afterwards. They\'re big fans of PB. I used to go to alot of their shows last year, but haven\'t been in a while, it just feels like the same show every time. I will say one good thing about them, they do manage to get a pretty big crowd and the crowd is usually into it, but it helps that they play Providence all the time and they\'re from here.

EXPOSURE, that\'s what it\'s all about. i don\'t remeber if they opened last year, it\'s been soooo long. I hear what your say\'n tho kinda the same show, but they do have a good time. I went to FA\'s CD release at the Call and the place was PACKED. It would be good to promote the Hell outta the 3-4 colleges in the area for the next area visit. Hey, Ant you listen to 90.3 on Sunday nights.

Honestly, I don\'t listen to much radio up here, can\'t figure out any stations, heh. 90.3, I\'ll give it a whirl. 3-4 colleges? Ya count Roger Williams, ya got 6, 5 in Providence itself, not including URI Prov and CCRI. I had planned to flyer the hell out of Thayer St in March but wound up in the hospital instead, be a good street to start with, plenty of Brownies and RISDs, among others. Im sure ive asked ya before, but where are you in this state? I think its Cranston, but my memory aint what it used to be.

And yea, Fungus had one of the opening slots last year, the big guy who works there had his band play before the breakfast (I was told they were awful, I wasn\'t there until later, had a hockey game, now that I think of it it had to be before last January, cos thats when I stopped playing). Fungus played before those guys, don\'t know if the guys got to check them out or if anyone from here did since they were on pretty early, but I used to hang out at Jordan\'s apartment a bunch and he I know was PSYCHED to be playing on the same bill, the other guys were pretty pumped too. . .

The last time I went to club Ultra ended up in a SER street brawl where me and a few of my cousins tore apart a bunch of preppy college kids.  We had traffic stopped and everything, it was greatness.
