ok, so...small turnout. here\'s why, imo: everyone knows the webster sucks. far and wide, this is notoriously known. it\'s no wonder folks don\'t want to show up. the staff is nazi (even though they weren\'t too bad last night). the way it\'s set up...if ya wanna drink, can\'t get close to the stage to watch the band shred and throw back the energy. if it\'s crowded, gotta wait on line to go outside for a cig. and, most importantly, the sound in there is HORRIBLE. if ya get up close, you can\'t hear all the band members. if ya stand farther back, the whole thing just sounds like a muddled, echoey mess. now, i could tell that the band was tearing it up (kudos for that, especially even though they were tired), but i had to listen really closely and use a lot of imagination. so no matter how good the band is playing, it\'s lost on the masses. ya can\'t really tell. and it\'s certainly hard to enjoy.
if the breakfast didn\'t keep playing the webster, i would have boycotted the place a long time ago. i\'m almost to the point where i think i\'m not gonna go there anymore, even if the breakfast is playing. which is saying a lot...missing a ct breakfast show. but the webster is the worst venue ever.
if you\'re gonna do a ct show, there are other, better choices...toad\'s, porter\'s, sully\'s, etc.
so, the breakfast, please don\'t play the webster anymore. i beg you.
