Do you think a \'stealth\' type recording at Toads (sonic mics -good) would come out better than a recording with good mics but the stands are against the sbd ?? Does the distance make alot of difference ??? .... Bean

my uneducated guess is if you stood front & center and didnt move it would come out better.  its not like there\'s seating so that would be tough.  sounds a little safer bet to go up against sounboard area in back?

i have been setting up my mic stand about 10-12 feet back from the center stacks inside the barrier between the all ages and 21+ section. I think thats the best way to do it at toads. Check out the 3/19/05 fuzebox show - http://thebreakfast.info/forum/showthread.php?t=3669

I forgot about those barriers..Im usally front row for photos. We(I transfer mostly) have been taping reggae at toads for years so I know how the stealth sounds. Melanie-standing in the sweet spot is not so tough.. but pro-taping gigs patching into a mic stand makes for a better show ... I\'ll be at the upcoming UAC show, hope to meet a few breakfast freaks there....Bean
