i\'m a little surprised that this hasn\'t been mentioned yet, but today is the 8th anniversary of Notorious BIG\'s death.  For those on you in the NYC/Tri State area, Junior Mafia is hosting some major event tonight that is probably worth checking out...http://www.sohh.com/thewire/read.php?contentID=6805

I dont think I would agree with that statement but I guess a lot of folks would agree

To me, Biggie is the greatest rap figure of all time.  He embodies all that is hip-hop.  In fact, he pioneered what it means to represent hip-hop.  "Juicy" is right up there with "The Message" as the two rap songs that dealt with the black urban struggle while being popular enough to be heard and original enough to be trendsetting.  Pop hip-hop now with all the bling bling is all about everything Biggie pioneered; emerging from ghetto life against the odds to make it big.  Biggie was a poor, overweight, undereducated black man growing up in the ghetto.  He wasn\'t supposed to make it but he did.  The ideal he pioneered is what every popular rap song and artist has been about for the last 10 years.  I can name 20 people who command the English language over a beat better than Biggie, but being able to drop syllables on top of beats smoothly is just a talent.  Do any of those people stuff the raw emotion, trend-setting ability, authenticity, likeability, and hip-hop embodiment into one package the way Biggie did?  No way.  If that\'s what is meant by "greatest rapper", I completely agree.

Yeah, if you want to get shot!

The most interesting thing about "the 2 best rappers ever" (Tupac & Biggie) is that they are both dead... victims of their own violent creations.

i can\'t say that i completely agree with you. although they are both dead now because of their battle, i will always see tupac as the instigator in this situation.

doesn\'t matter who started it, because the two are now in the same place.

Although I enjoy the occassional B.I.G. throwback song, I can probably do without this whole ghetto hip hop culture. It\'s all competition and sadly they all die for it.
Love many, trust few and don\'t be late.

Had a dream I said, bout who he said?
Bout B.I.G. I said, that\'s big he said
Dig he said, proceed he said
Indeed I said, so - breathe I did
Don\'t repeat what I say I said, he said nothin
He agreed with his head, he just nodded like this
What I believe to be a yes I re-peated what was said
It came to me like a .. well as even I said
"You feel playboy," was the greeting he said
First thing I wanted to know, what\'s the reason he was dead?
"More money, more problems, better believe it," he said
"Careful what you wish for you might receive it," he said

"This week, celebrate BIG\'s legacy at The Official Tribute To The Notorious B.I.G at The Roxy. Next month, pick up Junior Mafia\'s Riot Musik in stores April 19th."

"Advance tickets will cost $40 and heads will be charged $60 at the door -with the first 300 girls in free. A portion of the concert\'s proceeds will be donated to the Christopher Wallace Foundation."

The foundation is run by his mother and is dedicated to community outreach. I could not find anything more specific nor any examples of thier outreach efforts. Even from the grave BIG is making people money.
