Not sure if it\'s the best - my vote still goes to Rift, but marcial, it\'s not that bad - gotta love Limb By Limb, Ghost and my alltime favourite strum/growl along song: Wading In The Velvet Sea.

Farmhouse is a different matter - prefer the rawness of Trampled By Lambs... As for Round Room, still haven\'t bothered to get it - even just to complete the phish collection. May pick it up in a bargain bin in another 10  years or so. ;)

theme from the bottom is on Billy.. but i personally think Marcial is a moron for saying Story of the Ghost contributed to the decline. By far their funkiest album and youre posting on the Breakfast\'s website Ghost sucked!? BWAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!! I dont know, lately ive been putting my mp3 player on shuffle and i have about 50 Phish shows on it, i dont look to see what year each song is from-- i listen and try to figure it out by energy and how much it grabs my attention... for the most part i know \'91 through \'94 immediately, everything is so tight and their balls are exposed most of the time, but theres been a few tunes from 98 that have fooled me. the Live Phish 6 release is outstanding, their Halloween show is sick, and two days later their third set was okay:
Harpua > The Dark Side of the Moon > Harpua
encore: Smells Like Teen Spirit

Ghost is phenom, everything post Ghost has moments but very few. Long live \'98, and Marcial send me your address so I can mail you some knee pads.

who says that "funky phish" is the best phish?  i hate funky phish... story of the ghost, farmhouse, weak ass shows, sloppiness, lack of fire, farmhouse encores, etc all go hand in hand as part of what I like to call "the beginning of the end".  you said yourself that \'91-\'94 are the tightest.... that\'s when they were at their peak.... and practicing heavily... then in 1997, they got lazy.  it\'s alot easier to play loose & funky than it is to play like they did in the early 90\'s.

let me guess... your first show was post hiatus.

no marcial, my first show was summer 02.. i was only 16 so i definitely missed the boat on the really good years, its a shame. but yeah i wasnt necessarily saying that Ghost IS the best Phish, freddie said that. my favorite will always be Rift, i was just saying that Ghost being their funkiest album was a great one. i dont think they were all that sloppy in 98, when i listen to \'97 i think they were in a transitional period getting a little bit tired of the old stuff and Billy just had more of a soft flow to it all. Once they started working all the Ghost material into their sets I think they got excited and it showed in their playing. Let\'s also not forget that Big Cypress was NYE \'99, far from laziness. In the IT special they were all saying how the decline really hit after that \'the Pinnacle\' moment of their life as a band-- Big Cypress. I dont know, it\'s all a roundabout, I\'m still just bitter that I wasn\'t able to see them in \'94. I\'ll shut my mouth now.
