Requestin\' Suggestions...

I\'m going to put together a sampler of the Breakfast and pass it out at shows around here and what not. I\'m trying to come up with what would be a perfect intro setlist (that can fit on one disc) to people who have never heard them. A few I was thinking were Escher\'s, Rufus, Tribal Funk.. I would appreciate some insight as to what you guys think would be fitting for the virgin ear. Also, specific versions of these songs would be great so I could either download em or seek them out. I\'m gonna make a nice label for the sampler too, try to \'mass produce\' it as much and as cheap as possible, and then just dish em out. Hopefully they\'ll be spinning all over Chicago. Thanks guys..

I got a couple friends into them by playing Inner Glimpse and No Regret.  Personally, I think you should put on doughboy and a good version of any cover song which more people can relate to.

I agree ^ - you need IG and Doughboy on there as they are pretty representative of RR. A good wig out on something like Peace Frog would be my choice of cover.

Definitely the latter - some of the jams in Buquebus lately have been insane.

gottaw have "SPUNK"

Christine likes "message in a bottle" the way they cover it. If you had the space, I would say grab a good "no quarter", but they are usually 15+ mins.

i agree with a lot of what\'s been said so far... my newbie tracklist would look like this:

Inner Glimpse
Doughboy
Buquebus
Son Of Simpleton
Hard Luck Harry
The Chase
Rufus
Wild Pack Of Asscracks
No Regret

covers:

pretty much anything that ronnie sings... Message In A Bottle, Tom Sawyer, Karn Evil 9, In The Flesh.... oh, and Hush..

Nice choice, dave - tends towards the more recent stuff (or what is in common rotation at the mo), which is good. As for covers, the Baja Bash show has a nice version of In the Flesh - made for a good last track of the show. The Tom Sawyer\'s not bad either. Karn Evil is also a goodie which I forgot about.

I think some of the recent takes on Mayfly give a good indication of how funky the band can get.  Night of the Thumpasauraus Peoples is a good cover for that category as well.

Really good list Greg, though I think Doughboy is must.  Maybe a Son Of Simpleton as a last track to end the disk with a bang?

Meh, if I were to add one of the newer songs, it\'d be No Regret, as for ending w/ a bang, isn\'t that what asscracks is for?  if not, tack on a Funky Bill\'s Circus Cliche instead.

Taboo or Not Taboot is also a great way to end.

I\'d give \'em more of newer songs (doughboy, inner glimpse, no regret)....and definitely not phatty boom batty.  ugh.
Play some Weezer!!!
