I\'ll definitely be @ the roo this year!  I\'d go to see Bela, the Allman Bros. & Alison Krauss alone, but the rest of the lineup looks fun as well.  Yeah, some bands are not the biggest & most talented, but I can go party @ the hotel/RV while they\'re playing! Besides, I\'ve never been to a bad DMB show, and while Jack Johnson & OAR may be considered "high-school" or "repetetive," I do enjoy listening to their music as well.  It\'ll be a great way to start a fun-filled summer!  If anyone else is interested in taking the trip, PM me & we\'ll work out details ;)

Robyn, I definitely see your point. My issue is that I won\'t take time off of work, find babysitters for my pets, and spend TONS of money unless I really really like a line up. I won\'t go if I think it\'s "not bad" or "ok." I have to be really excited about the bands to want to go. Especially when something is so far away!

Plenty of other festies out there for less money, closer to home, less hasles......the list goes on.

Bonnaroo is SUPER corporate and money-driven, way more than any other festival.  They flew under the radar the first year because Superfly just pulled it out of thin air.  But year 2 was completely ClearChanneled out and now they make every dollar they can.  Look at the facts:

-First year: open taping like any good jam festival.  Second year on, major taping hassles and they\'re selling everyone\'s performance for more money.

-First year big mainstage acts: Cheese, Trey, J5.  Fourth year: Dave Matthews, O.A.R., Jack Johnson.  They know who shows up with the fuckin money.  Bonnaroo \'05 is closer to the neo-Woodstocks than it is to Bonnaroo \'02.  I bet Cheese chooses not to play anymore, they\'re the headiest band of all time.

-I don\'t know what the winning bid was to get the beer vendor contract last year, but I know that we (Boston Beer Co.) bid a LOT of money and didn\'t win it.  Mind you that this bid is for the    right to serve your beer just for brand recognition.  Clear Channel still gets every penny of every $5 beer sold all weekend.

Gotta give some credit at this point to groups like Gamelan, Terrapin, and High Sierra for keeping their festivals more or less greed-free.  Sure they\'re out to make money but it\'s obvious that the music is very important to them, and I don\'t mind spending at their festivals.  I\'m sure they\'ve been approached.  Superfly either sold out in a hurry or got legally strong-armed by ClearChannel.

Well that goes without saying.  Maybe we\'ll finally pull it off this year.

Just so everyone understands Bonnaroo is NOT owned nor run by Clear Channel Communications it is still owned and run by Superfly and AC Entertainment. I have no idea how Wolfman can blatently(sp?) post false information as fact.

That being said I\'m STILL never going to attend a Bonnaroo even if The Breakfast Headline the damn thing unless it is moved to a better time of year.
