[moved from The Grand Scheme of Things, minus the poll]

Though it would still be cool if they were added late to the list. So far the list as it stands now:

Widespread Panic (2 shows)
Dave Matthews Band
The Allman Brothers Band
Jack Johnson
Alison Krauss & Union Station
Modest Mouse
Gov\'t Mule
Bela Fleck Acoustic Trio
The Mars Volta
John Prine
Yonder Mountain String Band
My Morning Jacket
Keller Williams
STS9
Earl Scruggs & Friends
Joss Stone
O.A.R.
Toots and the Maytals
Umphrey\'s McGee
 Iron & Wine
Ozomatli
Rilo Kiley
Karl Denson\'s Tiny Universe
Drive-By Truckers
Particle
Joanna Newsom
Xavier Rudd
Ray LaMontagne
The Gourds
Secret Machines
Donna The Buffalo
John Butler Trio
Ollabelle
Citizen Cope
Brazilian Girls
M. Ward
Madeleine Peyroux

I suppose that if I liked Widespread Panic, that they are headlining would be cool. I\'ve never actually ever listened to them.  Some people here have voiced negative opinions about DMB being second, but I don\'t mind the band, I just can\'t stand the high-school girl fans.  The first two CDs (too young for records) I ever bought were Grateful Dead Live from the Filmore East (2/19/69) and Jefferson Airplane 30 Seconds Over Winterland.

That was, um, 8 years ago? I forget. Anyways, I was talking to my friends at school and mentioned that I loved the violin in 30 Seconds Over Winterland and they mentioned that DMB had a violin...so I bought their Red Rocks CD, which is "pretty good" as a rock-jazz-folk combo. Unfortunately, as time has gone on, DMB has catered more to the teeny-bopper scene than to the jazz-folk. Maybe their aperience at Bonnaroo is a turn in a new direction? Well, I can hope.

I am a bit cuirous as to why Modest Mouse is on the bill, since they really don\'t fit with the "Bonnaroo" sceene, but whatever.

All that said, I still plan on going.

Not much in this line-up to make me want to go. Allman Bros. Light doesn\'t do much for me. Bela Acoustic is one good one, UM is alright, as is Yonder Mountain S.B. Honestly those are the only attractive ones on there. I have been repeatedly disappointed by KDTU. Especially after seeing them on the boat. It was some sort of light pop funk jazz. I don\'t undersrand why he is as popular as he is. I feel like he is just coasting on the fact that he used to play in a really smokin band. His current thing doesn\'t do much for me.

Plus, Bonnaroo is too big... I went the 2nd year.. Despite having a pretty good time, there was WAY too much humanity packed in there. The mud had this gross human filth smell to it. Not to mention the place is so huge I got lost 10 million times, and had to walk like 25 minutes (not exagerrating- we got there late and got a bad spot) to get from my site to the concert fields. And god, it was so dirty...

Now, I don\'t mind dirt. Real, outdoors dirt. Love the stuff. Would sleep naked in it. But the kind of filth there is when you pack all of those PEOPLE into too small a space, with little to no sanitary measures taken... gross!

I think I\'ll pass this year. Between DMB and O.A.R. it sounds like it will be one big frat party.

I\'m kinda hoping the DMB and OAR fans will be too alien to the sceene and not go.

Interesting line-up - damn sight better than anything the UK could offer up these days. And don\'t mention Reading or Glastonbury - lucky if you get 3 decent acts a year at those. (Sorry I don\'t count McCartney, Oasis or that bunch of over-rated boring gits known as Radiohead as worthwhile Glastonbury headliners!)

My take on the line-up of the first third or so acts follows:

Widespread Panic (2 shows) Panic will either be absolutely fantastic if they come back fired up after their break or they will have lost it - I\'d be hoping for the former.
Dave Matthews Band - not interested. Have tried them cos you should, I\'ve been told, but no.
The Allman Brothers Band - definitely worth seeing
Jack Johnson - love the guy, but when will he do some new stuff?
Alison Krauss & Union Station - something and nothing
Modest Mouse - don\'t know them
Gov\'t Mule - Warren is awesome and I\'d love to see these guys
Bela Fleck Acoustic Trio - interest me enough to check them out
The Mars Volta - over-rated, try to be too clever by far
John Prine - a living legend who actually merits the title
Yonder Mountain String Band - good fun in a festival setting
My Morning Jacket - what I\'ve heard is OK, but don\'t know much
Keller Williams - kdub is one of the greatest solo performers... ever - no futher comment necessary.
STS9 - don\'t know \'em
Earl Scruggs & Friends - yeehaaa!!
Joss Stone - over-rated and over-hyped

... can\'t be bothered to comment further, as I guess this is about where Breakfast would be on the bill.

The exposure would be excellent, but what about the possibilities for sit-ins? How about a Hot Lanta with Timmy sitting in with the Allmans or Ron and Animal sitting in for a storming Mule? There\'s also lots of opportuntities for great acoustic jams with the likes of Prine, Johnson and k-dub.

And tyzack, your choice of first CDS is impeccable. If you liked 30 seconds, try and get a copy of the Bastard Son of Winterland boot - double CD from the last Airplane show.

For the same reasons that joc mentioned, I doubt I will go either... of course, this is the first year that I have lived 1.5 hours from Manchester, TN with Panic headlining two nights in a row... so I guess you never know...

Here\'s the way to do it comfortably... a group of 10 of my firends did it like this last year & said it was the way to go.  Between 10 peeps, you get an RV that sleeps 5 comfortably AND (this part is key) a hotel room 10min from the venue.  They have special parking for non-campers, so it\'s easy to drive in & out of the festival.  Everyone takes turns sleeping in the RV or hotel (in AC / out of the TN in June heat & humidity), and you can go to the hotel to shower, drop deuces, etc.  This would be the only way I will do it.  I\'m too old to deal with 75,000 filthy, stinking hippies living in a cess pool for 4 days (and loving it)... no fucking way...

As for the acts... I actually like the line-up.

1) WSP - what else needs to be said?

2) UM - have been getting into them more & more lately.  the late-night show they put on last year was top notch (a show that TB should have been playing, but that\'s another story)

3) STS9 - great Bisco / Particle esque electronica techno jam band

4) Keller - Boom said it all... the guy is a fucking genius

5) KDTU - great in small quantities

6) Yonder - If you like true bluegrass, they are awesome.  If they had a drummer, I would like them alot more.

7) Particle - not horrible

8) Brazillian Girls - never heard of them, but judging by the name, how bad could they be?

Plus, I\'m sure some quality acts will be added between now & then.

Now, WTF is up with TB not playing?  I mean, they won a freaking jammy for best new band, but they won\'t give them a chance at THE jamband festival???  If they could get a late-night spot similar to what UM had last year, they would fucking blow up.  What the hell is that "high powered" management doing for them???

in all honestly, I am hoping that Ken Hays over at Terrapin has something very good for GOTV this year.. no dead, moe. or cheese at the roo thus far.  They should bring PLQ back to headline two nights.. plus   The Breakfast are Terrapin friendly..
Not sure what is gonna transpire. Regardless, we ain\'t gonna forget the gravy.

I was about 46% expecting to see TB there, with their jammy win, new album and all their talk about this being their year...

Who knows, maybe they will be a late addition...you know...if they read this board. :)

Went to roo last year and ehhhh.

Wont be going back regardless of the lineup. They treated us like shit last year. Gave us nothing but a hard time everywhere we went. Even though it clearly stated that Taping was allowed. It all came to a boiling point on the final day when they refused to let us in with our rigs. They then threaten to have us escorted off the property even though on the ticket it clearly stated we had a right to be there with our rigs. They simply said we changed the rules.

Not to mention that they did absolutely nothing to even try to remedy the 6-12" of mud that they made you go through to get in and out of centeroo. Added to the fact that there was a HUGE racial divide between concert goers and those who were working the gates. So that didnt help matters much.

Also the TN heat is unreal. the humidity was INSANE. We alo had a hotle room in town and a camping spot as well. We got lucky and tey camped us pretty close to the main stage but I couldn\'t even imagine the folks who were so far away if you left your campsite I couldnt see going back for anything until the music was over.

Not to mention that they weren\'t even letting regular folks bring in low back chairs which again was OK\'d on the website prior to the fest. It was so bad when they refused to let us in with our rigs on the final day there was a huge group of kids pissed about not being able to bring in their chairs they rushed the exit gate and thats how we got our rigs in on Sunday.

if you are gonna go definitely get an RV and go VIP. But I will never give them any $ again.
