OMG has anyone heard UM\'s NYE show? Listening to it for the 2nd time. This band is really freaking great!! I am hearing much soulfulness that I believed to be missing from their music. I now understand much better why their fans are UMPHREAKS. They have a great balance of crazy prog rock w/ poppish polish, decent vocals and the songwriting is not 1/2 bad. Still not really my cup o\' tea as they are more Prog rock than anything else but I can drink in alot more than I thought @ 1st
They are to open for Phil in Feb. for Mardi Gras should be a great show.

i\'ve thought since then that they caught YOU on a bad night since i\'ve read good reviews from that show. i figured you would give them another shot when the time was right. i just saw them in NYC and they were awesome. i\'m glad that your next show will be with an open mind and not the bad taste you had last year.

Open mind is right. I am actually going to have songs I want to hear!!!
The Breakfast can take a pointer or 2 from these guys (how to manage a set better for one) and I think as a fanbase we can also learn from the Umphreaks. I do believe I have ranted on this point b4 @least in that their fanbase is so rabid and intent on getting the band noticed it\'s ridiculous.
Anyway the NYE show is awesome great lounge version of Panama and the Sledgehammer is spot on. Get the show.
