My vote goes to Ronnie "Save" Spears.  I was floored by his playing both nights.  Top notch keeping it all together.....

It was a tough call for me because I thought that Jordan shined immensely as well, but I gotta go with BombDroppin, FunkLayin, GrooveKeepin Ronnie on this one....

Interestingly, Adrian played by far the most notes and Ron by far the fewest.  Maybe if they didn\'t play at all then it would be a fantastic show?

this was hard, but i voted for adrian. he really blows my mind every time i see him. it was between him and ron for me, and since ron\'s leading, i\'m glad i put adrian up on the score board!

a bass line need not have many notes to be beautiful, it all depends on the note length and placement to make the groove. May I suggest Dotted eights on the downbeat? Perferably a 4th below the main chord voice to give a thicker overall tone to the melody?

The fourth is the best harmony ever written!
second place is a close tie between Major seventh, Flat2, flat 6, and of course, flat 13.


yea, yea, I know a flat 13 is no different than a flat 2, but an octave can add alot to a notes tone

this is off topic, but here ya go, anyway!

so, everything is conspiring against me. my "guy" said it would be a sure thing, but then had to go to work because someone had gotten sick or something. then, the parttime girl who had supported and even encouraged my road trip called in to say that she didn\'t feel like coming in, even if it was only to answer the phones = my 1:30pm departation time had just been pushed back til at least 4pm... not a good time to leave dc! non-stop traffic from dc to delaware. was able to make up some time on the turnpike, but had to be more careful, as, sure as toga said, the cops took an interest in me and my rapid gait, and i nearly got pulled (someone else pulled over in front of him). but, that\'s what cruise control is for, so i set it for a more reasonable pace, and continued on my merry way. by the time i was heading up the merritt parkway, i was making excellent time and even thought that i might be able to get there before midnight, which had been my goal. but as i came up and around the ramp back onto 95 for the final stretch of 8 miles to new haven, i came to a complete stop. road work, only one lane open. i could damn near see the exit! i could\'ve run there in better time! i was so freakin\' close, it was 11 pm on a friday night, where the hell did all these cars come from?!?!?! then i got lost in new haven, trying to find the venue. it was frustrating, to say the least. trials and tribulations. but it ain\'t worth it if ya don\'t earn it, and by god, apparently i\'d earned a phenomenal time!!!

i pulled into the parking lot to a circle of friends and familiar faces. second set hadn\'t gotten going yet, everyone was still refreshing themselves (no smoking indoors in ct... not a fan. but i digress) and happiness was abundant. apparently the first set had been killer, everyone was sweaty and drunk. good indicators, all. i was ready.

well, we get in, order up some beverages and shots, stake out a place and proceed to prepare for an aural pummeling. but i was slightly hestitant. it wasn\'t the buzz factor, i\'d had 8 hours to work on that (and especially the entire length of the merritt parkway! ) it wasn\'t the music, that would be fine. i was just worried that perhaps i\'d be too out of it from the road. i\'d already been up sixteen hours, worked three qurters of a day, and driven to new haven from dc. would i be ready to, nay, would i be fortified enough to withstand the onslaught tha the breakfast brings?

turns out, i was.

the first song took me a few minutes to fully realize where i was, but by the time the eighth or ninth peak came around, i was fully in the moment! then they got to the second song! if y\'all don\'t know about the breakfast, this ain\'t some hippy happy twirly floaty moonbeams kinda band. they are put your head down, feet on high, hips of fast, non-stop, mile a minute distance sprinting. don\'t expect a slow song to give you a breather, don\'t expect to walk out feeling yawny, and dont expect anything but sheer, blissful exhaustion! somewhere in the beef barley/buquebus insanity, i was sprinkler boy; a sheen of clean, jubilant sweat, kinda gross, but thoroughly fine by me! every limb was spastically following the furious pulse of every instrument.

within five or ten minutes i had gone from frustrated, edgy, cooped up, and impatient to that feeling we all love from truly great live music, when everything is just better, when you actually feel a part of the universe and the immediate, when that moment of joyful time seems stretched and eternal, when your smile just can\'t get big enough and you don\'t know whether to whoo hoo or laugh or just jump up and down until you collapse, giggling.

the post party in the streets, the after party at the hotel, the three hour new haven pizza experience (overrated!), the people, and musically the second day was even better than the first, but it was that moment the first night, when i\'d gotten past all of those petty things that had been bugging me and making my shoulders bunch up, when i was once again swimming in the psychedelic soup, grinning til i couldn\'t grin no more....

THAT\'S why i went!

freddie, we actually met on nye. i was hangin out with antelope jill. and yeah, we did have a "passing" moment on the street, and then we all got back to the hotel and thought of you kindly for the rest of the night!
