Huey Lewis and The News

"I think their undisputed masterpiece is \'Hip to be square,\' a song so catchy, people probably dont listen to the lyrics.  But they should, because its not just about the pleasures of conformity and the importance of trends, its also a personal statement about the band itself.  HEY PAUL!"

Huey Lewis and The News wins for band that sounds the best after you just railed a half gram line of cocaine, probably.

There would be no Huey Lewis and the News w/o
the influence of GD. Huey saw Pigpen play and that was that.

this is one of those topics where everyone has their own opinion. it can\'t be pinpointed down.

in my heart, the greatest band ever.... i will always say The Beatles, because they shaped so much of my youth and me coming to love music at a young age.

Greatest band currently still touring?  I say Wilco.  I am sorry, but I have to.  I have seen them every year for the last three.  And their shows move me. literally.  like my being and soul reaches places i didn\'t think it could.     But then again, its only my opinion.

I\'d like to say Zeppelin because they\'re my favorite band of all time, but I gotta say The Beatles.  To me, they are responsible for basically everything.

Greatest rock n roll Band of all time ?

hmmmmm. Honestly I would have have to say Led Zeppelin.

I don\'t care if you think they didn\'t give enough $$ or credit to black musicians but pound for pound they are and continue to be the GREATEST ROCK N ROLL BAND ever to grace a stage

Close second would be the Grateful Dead. 2 totally different vibes tho and the Grateful Dead did it longer / and better then just about everyone.

Arguably the greatest front man ever = Robert Plant
Arguably the greatest rock n roll guitar player = Jimi Page (of course I like others but the argument could be made)
Arguably the greatest rock n roll bass/piano/etc etc player = John Paul Jones
Greatest Rock N roll Drummer = John Henry Bonham

These guys are Rock N Roll.

1975-02-14 Nassau Coliseum St. Valentines day
Quite possibly the best recording of Led Zeppelin I have ever heard. The show is EPIC. No Quarter is NASTY (possibly best ever)

Jimmy Page plays some sloppy guitar.

I\'m way better than he ever was.

Dude please.

It depends on what show / year you are listening to. Was he a mess on stage ? Sure but not always and when the band was on it was ON.

If you want to sit there thinking you have more skills than Jimi Page that is up to you but it is absurd.

Session work for the likes of

The Who
Jeff Beck
Eric Clapton
The Rolling Stones
Donovan

This is all before the Yardbirds or Led Zeppelin

I\'m sure the folks above thought he was sloppy and not worth the time or money. His work post 1975 when he was using Heroin was when the sloppiness really started showing up
