Acoustic Cafe Residency; Bridgeport, CT - Week 3
« Reply #15 on: April 12, 2011, 08:07:51 pm »
Yeah no dice getting into the cafe if you\'re under 21.

I brought my friend there the first week, and she got in fine because we\'d talked to the band first and we were saying she\'d work the merch table (which she\'ll still do in the future if it works out).

Second week, we get there, and this woman at the door was being such a hard ass. Even dragged Tim up to the front to try and negotiate with her. No dice. Poor girl had to chill out in the parking lot for the whole show!

So yeah... I wouldn\'t bet on getting in under 21 without a nice ID.

i\'d love to go, but have a few more weeks until my spine fuses properly, so until then i can\'t even leave the house so getting to CT isn\'t as easy as it used to be.

damn laws.  can drive a 3,000lb suv at high speeds, die for your country, and smoke cigarettes until ya puke, but can\'t see an awesome band somewhere that serves liquor?  wtf?

Rare songs (of late) I\'d like to hear thrown in the mix this Friday:
ATSD, LDZ, Love Lake, The Sound, Rust, No Glove, Frankly Po...

And then there\'s the heavy hitters we have yet to see during the residency:
STL, Metropolis, Mooboo\'s, Mayfly, HLH, TFA, LATG > OE, Synergy, Tunage, Pysgn...

I know there are countless others in both categories and everyone has their opinions but this is just my .02

Can\'t argue with most of those. Would really like The Sound, I\'d add Shotgun Butterfly. Some are unfortunately pipe dreams, but don\'t give up hope! Two songs I am officially tired of - OE and Metro. my .03.

Speaking of pipe dreams:

Episode 1
Food For Thought
Fresh Cut
Future Peek
Garcian Fishbowl
TGSOT
Great Big Fiery Ball In The Sky
Gypsy Girl
Heather
Inner Glimpse
Intension
Love Lake
No Regret
Superfly Phaddy Fat

WHAT?! those are two of my faves! i can\'t believe we disagree!

also, although i won\'t be there, for the sake of those in the audience, i\'d like to see RUSH come off the shelf. been too long since i\'ve heard that one

Metropolis is possibly the best song to hear live in my opinion. It can come from anything and that build-up always gets my heart pumping. The jam is a free-for-all always.... made my buddy fall into an abyss at worcester.... he got out

That\'s the important part :)

Metrop always rages... sometimes its a lot better than others. I loved the version from Harlow\'s Pub last year, a lot spacier. And then the version from The Field in 2008 was just insane.

OE I heard at like every show in 2007 and kind of got tired of it then. If they brought it back and slayed it, I wouldn\'t doubt liking it again. Especially tied to a Late and the Great.
