Damn heading up to the Bay Area for a mini Biscuits tour.
I\'ll have to run this thread starting nxt week and drop some Dead knowledge on the kidz.
For now:
This show just got released as a Road Trip but a killer SBD can be streamed here.

http://www.archive.org/details/gd74-06-18.sbd.sacks.209.sbefail.shnf

Take a listen to this portion here and if you can keep from crying tears of joy by the end you have no soul.
Weather Report Suite Prelude-> Weather Report Suite Part 1-> Let It Grow-> The Other One-> It\'s A Sin-> Stella Blue

People who don\'t like GD are welcome in this thread and should feel free to express their opinions. Deadheads do not get butt-hurt over dissenting opinions. Our music of choice transcends generations and continues to be as meaningful and timeless as ever; thus we don\'t feel the need to try to recruit people into agreement with our musical tastes.

Also, I totally agree with your assessment of one of the primary points of the internet :D

Leith that show isn\'t even streaming right now :(

So... in my opinion nobody plays Dead like The Breakfast. Thank God that Jordan\'s back in the lineup to do this proper. Here\'s some of my all-time favorite examples of Breakfast dead interpretations:

Help on the Way > Slipknot! (Daniel Street 2008-11-29)
http://www.archive.org/details/breakfast2008-11-29.nt3.flac16

Eyes of the World (Sully\'s 2009-08-01)
http://www.archive.org/details/breakfast2009-08-01

Puppetry > The Other One > Puppetry (UVM 2005-12-07)
http://www.archive.org/details/breakfast2005-12-07.flac16

Shakedown Street (Mill Street Brews 2008-12-28)
(couldn\'t find the link on archive??)

I grew up listening to GD, but they really don\'t do it for me anymore. Everything is just too damn slow and doesn\'t go anywhere.

And who\'s idea was it to slow down friend of the devil to a turtle crawl? I don\'t know years or examples but i have heard some versions that are painfully slow.

I like it slow and fast. But the slow versions are just dripping with soul. Can\'t help but sing along to this song.. matter of fact I was wailing along to it just last night :guitar:

It also helps that Jordan was in a dead cover band before signing up with Psychedelic Breakfast...

As for 5/22/77, here\'s the setlist:

Set 1
Funiculi Funicula, Music Never Stopped, Sugaree, El Paso, Peggy-O, New Minglewood Blues, Friend of the Devil, Lazy Lightnin\' > Supplication, Ramble On Rose, Dancin\' in the Street

Set 2
Help on the Way > Slipknot! > Franklin\'s Tower, Samson and Delilah, Brown-Eyed Women, Good Lovin\', Sunrise, Estimated Prophet > Eyes of the World, Wharf Rat > Terrapin Station > Morning Dew

Encore
Sugar Magnolia

My second favorite show is 9/18/87

Set 1
Hell in a Bucket, Sugaree, Walkin\' Blues, Candyman, When I Paint My Masterpiece, Bird Song

Set 2
Shakedown Street, Men Smart-Woman Smarter, Terrapin Station > Drums > Space > GDTRFB, All Along The Watchtower, Morning Drew, Good Lovin\' > La Bamba > Good Lovin\'

Encore
Knockin\' On Heavan\'s Door

The thing about FOTD and a lot of the GD music is you DO NOT NEED any drugs to enjoy much of their canon.

No wonder the kidz and their fancy designed drugs can\'t deal with the GD.

Funny enough, fancy designed drugs make me want to crank up the Dead and run far away from the untzy stuff

But yeah, it\'s great Dead sober too.

Dead in general is good sober or not... In order to listen to the Acid Test Reels, you need something in order to have patience for all of the non-musical crap going on...

Yeah that figures ;)

Anyway check out archive for other versions of that show from \'74. there are a few SBD copies up.

if you happen to have some DMT laying around a great time to hit it would be between The Other One and It\'s a Sin.
BLISS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
