Should the Breakfast bring back Bugs?

Listening.... okay with 4 minutes left I\'m still wondering exactly where Barbar does anything besides play like half a scale back and forth... about 2 minutes left... okay picked up the pace a little bit but it sounds like a lot of hella easy repeating riffs to me.

I guess the jam just peaked cuz Barbar hit a high note and people in the crowd seem excited about it. Okay now he\'s playing a couple notes pretty fast.

Dunno sounds like every other Biscuits jam to me. Barbar was basically MIA until the last few minutes and then he riffed on easy major scale stuff with no progression or deviation from the box.

Show me something in a minor key or a little darker and more progressive feel to it?

Dunno man I think it\'s gonna be hard to convince me. It\'s not like I haven\'t heard a shit ton of Biscuits considering how many of my friends pop tents for \'em... not really a matter of "oh you need to hear this or that song". I wouldn\'t sweat it though we all like what we like. I\'m on a Rage Against the Machine / Soundgarden kick at the moment so you\'re swimmin\' upstream when it comes to that one ;) You and Zuke and everyone else going enjoy the shows I\'ll be around for the weekend chillin, probably going on a date with Ash during the friday show and who knows Saturday.

Should be a good time. Little less concerned about the scope of things at the moment... I think my room mate realizes having the ultimate rager of all time right across the street from the Calvin is a dumb idea and trying to tone down the plans just a tad :P

Chill brah so what if I don\'t like a band you like? You\'re still comin thru to party and possibly sleep right. Really no point in giving a shit about my opinion about various other bands or electronic untzy music in general. This is a Breakfast board and that\'s why I\'m here anyway. And you guys are Bfam and we\'ve partied it up before which is why you got a place to be and probably enjoy a good party and super convenient location on the hizzzy kiid!

Deep breaths > acceptance of various tastes in music > party on broseph

tuna, i hope you\'re around this weekend to witness some of this. and if not, oh well...i\'m not in the business of trying to convince people of the biscuits\' greatness (i leave that to nicknels).

Yeah I\'ll be around most of the time except I got other plans during show time. As far as I can tell the Biscuits have more than enough fans so I wouldn\'t sweat it. Personally looking forward to Dark Star Orchestra, The Breakfast, The Wailers, Yonder Mountain String Band, The Alchemystics, Jim Weider\'s Project Percolator, Pink Floyd Experience, Max Creek coming to town soon, as well as lots of Breakfast shows in the region hopefully before new years, not to mention hopefully a handful of Phish shows after "8".

So yea don\'t worry I\'m not exactly deprived of live music ;)

I think I have seen the Biscuits, but it might have just been a dream. Nothing too outstanding; seemed to be very appealing for those on hard (er?) drugs. Who knows--- I have not heard enough to even talk smack, but from what I\'ve heard, I could never in a million centuries call them better at jamming than The Breakfast, or DIRTY PARIS or TIMBRE COUP, two hot progressive sensations from my neck of the woods.
"When I hold you, I hold everything that is-- swans, volcanoes, river rocks, maple trees drinking the fragrance of the moon, bread that the fire adores. In your life I see everything that lives."- Pablo Neruda:wave:

luckily, i was able to catch a bunch of \'03-\'04 phish shows, so i stopped worrying about "correct" notes a long time ago. and i\'m not sure if it\'s the support he has or if it\'s him , but the biscuits/barber jam better on a more consistent basis than any other band i\'ve ever seen. no disrespect to the breakfast or phish, but the creativity of the biscuits is on a different level right now. and for the record i\'m only comparing present-day playing, not \'99 biscuits, or mid-90\'s phish, or the peak of the breakfast (whenever that was). tuna, i hope you\'re around this weekend to witness some of this. and if not, oh well...i\'m not in the business of trying to convince people of the biscuits\' greatness (i leave that to nicknels).

holy shit!
rotfl omg rotfl Thank you so much. I haven\'t had a laugh that good since I can\'t even remember.
Wow. That\'s some good shit right there.

Fucked up part is that zuke is 100% right.

All time I love bfast #1, phish #2, Biscuits #3

But so far in 2009 biscuits are jamming MUCH harder/tighter/better than either of the other two.  Listen to the tapes. Proof is in the pudding.  Be here now breh.  Biscuits have been on a roll and getting better for a few years now.  Phish peaked 15 years ago and is way over the hill nostalgia act.  Bfast started the year very strong but lost a lot of momentum with the lack of practicing and extended touring.

Can\'t check them out in work as anything with mp3s gets blocked by the system(and they have closed the workaround!) Loved the Timbre Coup bio on jambase:

"Timbre Coup is your favorite band. They rock harder than sedimentary, and roll harder than a Biscuits kid."

Song titles sound pretty cool too: "Arnold Schwarzenegger" and "Don\'t Fly a Key on a Kite String When It\'s Lightninging"

Will let you know what I think.

Thread mini-hijack over!

I am as shocked as you are.

There aren\'t even threads this long about the Breakfast epics.

You, sir, have done a fantastic job creating something out of nothing.
Love many, trust few and don\'t be late.

All my friends used to like Umphrey\'s, then like 2-3 years ago decided Umphrey\'s suddenly sucked and Biscuits were better.

I still like Umphrey\'s better. Curious to see what my friends will move on to once they get burnt out on Biscuits ;)

Is it really that shocking? Flame bait regarding Disco Biscuits guarantees an active thread.

No matter how completely and utterly unrelated it may be

Yeah, it\'s interesting that when recordings go up on bt.etree, the number of leechers on UM shows seems to be diminishing. However, IMHO they are playing much better shows than the biscuits at the moment - better songs and far better structured setlists and jams, which actually go somewhere, rather than staying in one place for too long.

This seems to be reflected in the albums too. Last couple of UM albums were very good, but then Mantis is a monster and one of my candidates for album of the year, whereas I can\'t remember the last biscuits album I got excited about.
