I deny that.  I really do not believe most of the music I listen to today would call MJ a "profound" influence.  most of the music profoundly influenced by him probably sucks worse than the original.

He was the lead song writer for the Jackson 5 / jacksons from the 70\'s - 80\'s. He co wrote "We are the world" which help rasie 50 million dollars for African hunger relief.

Billy Jean.... collaborator Nelson Hayes...the song was mixed 91 times by Bruce Swedien before it was finalized.  Other people involved with Thriller songwriter Rod Temperton (who wrote Thriller), Paul McCartney (who wrote The Girl Is Mine), most of the band Toto, eddie van halen...

Pop stars don\'t want to be considered just singers.  Their ego\'s are too big for that.



They sit with pro songwriters describing what they want the song to be about, then the songwriter does all the hard work.  Every song I look at in here

backs my point up.  Smooth Criminal written with some guy named John Barnes who wrote most of the album Bad with Micheal.

P.S. - I don\'t dislike Jackson\'s music.  He\'s got a lot of great stuff that I\'ve enjoyed over the years.  But lets be clear, this isn\'t a man that pined away at a piano over chord changes and lyrical structure... he spent most of the thriller recording session practicing his dance moves.
