Maybe if they didn\'t insist on chasing the guy there wouldn\'t have to be any dead bodies on the side of the road.

Or maybe the guy shouldn\'t have committed a crime and stolen a car???   Both sides to every story.  We could debate this for days.   It goes back to what i said, sometimes neither side is right.

However, remember, you commit a crime, be it small, large, extra large, be prepared for the consequences.  Don\'t complain cause you got caught and you don\'t like how they treated you.  Don\'t get caught.  Or just don\'t do it. its the risk YOU take.

Of course he shouldn\'t have stolen the car. But is engaging a dangerous car chase and causing a death of an innocent bystander worth so-called "justice" ?

In case you\'re getting me mixed up, I don\'t advocate theft, violence, or distribution of life-destroying substance. I will never stop being an advocate for innocent people having some jello shots before a Phish show or smoking/eating medicinal plants.

Sure we can debate this for days. I\'ll also complain about whatever I damn well please. To be quite honest I\'ve had a couple of the worst weeks of my life and if I see cops acting like bullies to good innocent kids on Phish lot I will damn well have a word about it.

I rather enjoy the luxury of reputable and legal employment so I can freely speak my mind on these matters. In fact I see it as my civil duty to do exactly that.

...

Yoda, cool bro. Yeah obviously real crime occurs and we need civil servants to mediate these situations. I guess much of the debate revolves around what is a "real crime". For the record I do not support drunk driving and do not drive intoxicated. This puts other people at danger so I fully support police intervention.

Kids with jello shots or smoking a joint at a Phish concert = victimless acts of human expression of freedom.

Skye, have you been handcuffed, illegally searched, humiliated by the police, and made to spend a night in jail over 0.2 grams of shitty bud? Do you even consider this a crime or have you really been brainwashed?

....

And since this thread is about Local Cops... here\'s what\'s been going on in my digs lately:
Poverty is Not a Crime Protests

and the outcome: Victory!!! Poverty is Not a Crime Campaign Succeeds

So the cop should not pursue someone that stole a care because of unknown potential consequences?

In case you\'re getting me mixed up, I don\'t advocate theft, violence, or distribution of life-destroying substance. I will never stop being an advocate for innocent people having some jello shots before a Phish show or smoking/eating medicinal plants.

Could it be that the people that were having jellor shots were minors? Does the cop know that without a little hassle?  And remember, in the eyes of the law, it\'s only medicinal if a doctor prescribes it...

Sure we can debate this for days. I\'ll also complain about whatever I damn well please. To be quite honest I\'ve had a couple of the worst weeks of my life and if I see cops acting like bullies to good innocent kids on Phish lot I will damn well have a word about it.

And so you should since it\'s your first ammendment right...

I don\'t think anyone is going to argue w/ you that there are some bad cops out there that just want to intimidate, but I think that the discussion is going in circles because Skye is coming to the table w/ a different perspective than you, and other people are taking a moderate stance.  But even though you don\'t advocate the breaking of law, it does seem that you\'re taking a radical stance against a couple kids getting busted at Phish concerts.  Are you outraged that the PNC Bank Arts Center has banned tailgaiting/drinking at shows after two people died at Ozzfest a couple years ago?  These rules aren\'t meant to be controling, they\'re meant to keep people safe... And as a side note, while it may be legal to carry pot in Mass, I\'m sure that it\'s still illegal to smoke it...

I don\'t care if this goes in circles forever. Postcount +1

I happen to believe standing up for my friends who were humiliated and handcuffed over joints and jello shots at a Phish show is actually not a "radical stance".

I believe it is the right thing to do.

And honestly I couldn\'t give a crap what goes on at Ozzfest. Phish and Breakfast kids (or at least most of them) are family. Hopefully Ozzfest kids can stand up for themselves if they see injustice occur.

There is a reason why houses in "quiet suburbs" are so desireable.

I didn\'t put in the one about the woman who reported that a diaper bag was stolen from her car.

...i kind of feel bad for that thef.

See, now the story unfolds... First it was "your friends" selling jello shots, then it went to "your friends" having jello shots and now it\'s jello shots and joints...  I think that it\'s great that you feel that most Phish and Breakfast kids are family, but be realistic, at least 3 quarters of whatever lot you\'re in could give two shits if it was you that got arrested instead of "your friends"...  I also find it rather strange that "your friends" got busted and you walked away from it unscathed...

Yoda get bent, guy. If you ever catch another Breakfast show why don\'t you come up and call me a liar to my face.

Yes group A of kids had jello shots for $1 a piece. Throw \'em in the pen. I was chillin at the car next to them and had nothing to do with it except that I bought some a few minutes before the cops rolled up.

Yeah, strange that I didn\'t get arrested for being next to a car of "friends" (yeah, actually friends, some of us have them, you know) who had jello shots.

Wow the true story really unfolds! You caught me! Jackass.

Not calling you a liar, but it went from being some people around you to being your friends... If you had said it was some people in the lot that you made friends w/, that would have made more sense than continually saying my friends this or my friends that.  I\'ve met people in lots before and we\'ve hung a little, but I wouldn\'t call them my friends...

Sounds like much of the argument should be directed towards the legislators who write the laws.  Until laws are changed, no matter how "illegal" an activity you are participating in may be, you still run the risk of being hassled by the police.
This isn\'t who it would be if it wasn\'t who it is.

Yikes, guys!  Look... rules are made to protect people and keep us all safe.  Of course, rules are also made to be broken... so support the cops but do whatever you don\'t want them to see discreetly! ;)

No, i\'ve never been handcuffed, arrested, or illegally searched.  Have i committed illegal acts in the past? YES.  Probably more than you.  Probably worse than you.  Had it come to me being handcuffed, arrested, or "illegally" searched.....i would have shut my mouth, let the cops do their jobs and prayed they\'d cut me a break because i knew what i was doing WAS illegal.    Do i consider having marijuana on me illegal? Yes.  I\'ve always thought this.   Waaaay before i even met my future husband.  I\'ve thought this since i was 18 and dated a marijuana dealer.   I always understand the complications if I/we were ever caught.    I\'ve been on both sides, seen both sides.   No matter where I stand, its illegal.  I don\'t condone, I don\'t approve.  I just know what is what.

And i think people who argue with the police, whine about being arrested, are in denial.

Yikes, guys!  Look... rules are made to protect people and keep us all safe.  Of course, rules are also made to be broken... so support the cops but do whatever you don\'t want them to see discreetly! ;)

EXACTLY, Robyn!  That\'s what i\'ve been saying.   If you do it, do it smart.  And if you get caught, well, you got caught ;)

These guys had it right years ago!

FUCK THA\' POLICE
NWA

Right about now NWA court is in full effect.
Judge Dre presiding in the case of NWA versus the police department.
Prosecuting attorneys are MC Ren Ice Cube and Eazy muthafuckin E.
Order order order. Ice Cube take the muthafuckin stand.
Do you swear to tell the truth the whole truth
and nothin but the truth so help your black ass?

Why don\'t you tell everybody what the fuck you gotta say?

Fuck tha police
Comin straight from the underground
Young nigga got it bad cuz I\'m brown
And not the other color so police think
They have the authority to kill a minority

Fuck that shit, cuz I ain\'t tha one
For a punk muthafucka with a badge and a gun
To be beatin on, and throwin in jail
We could go toe to toe in the middle of a cell

Fuckin with me cuz I\'m a teenager
With a little bit of gold and a pager
Searchin my car, lookin for the product
Thinkin every nigga is sellin narcotics

You\'d rather see me in the pen
Then me and Lorenzo rollin in the Benzo
Beat tha police outta shape
And when I\'m finished, bring the yellow tape
To tape off the scene of the slaughter
Still can\'t swallow bread and water

I don\'t know if they fags or what
Search a nigga down and grabbin his nuts
And on the other hand, without a gun they can\'t get none
But don\'t let it be a black and a white one
Cuz they slam ya down to the street top
Black police showin out for the white cop

Ice Cube will swarm
On any muthafucka in a blue uniform
Just cuz I\'m from the CPT, punk police are afraid of me
A young nigga on a warpath
And when I\'m finished, it\'s gonna be a bloodbath
Of cops, dyin in LA
Yo Dre, I got somethin to say

Fuck the police (4X)

M. C. Ren, will you please give your testimony to the jury about this fucked up incident.>

Fuck tha police and Ren said it with authority
because the niggaz on the street is a majority.
A gang, is with whoever I\'m stepping
and the motherfuckin\' weapon
is kept in a stash box, for the so-called law
wishin\' Ren was a nigga that they never saw

Lights start flashin behind me
But they\'re scared of a nigga so they mace me to blind me
But that shit don\'t work, I just laugh
Because it gives em a hint not to step in my path

To the police I\'m sayin fuck you punk
Readin my rights and shit, it\'s all junk
Pullin out a silly club, so you stand
With a fake assed badge and a gun in your hand

But take off the gun so you can see what\'s up
And we\'ll go at it punk, I\'ma fuck you up

Make ya think I\'m a kick your ass
But drop your gat, and Ren\'s gonna blast
I\'m sneaky as fuck when it comes to crime
But I\'m a smoke em now, and not next time

Smoke any muthafucka that sweats me
Or any assho that threatens me
I\'m a sniper with a hell of a scope
Takin out a cop or two, they can\'t cope with me

The muthafuckin villian that\'s mad
With potential to get bad as fuck
So I\'m a turn it around
Put in my clip, yo, and this is the sound
Ya, somethin like that, but it all depends on the size of the gat

Takin out a police would make my day
But a nigga like Ren don\'t give a fuck to say

Fuck the police (4X)

Police, open now. We have a warrant for Eazy-E\'s arrest.
Get down and put your hands up where I can see em.
Just shut the fuck up and get your muthafuckin ass on the floor.
[huh?]>

and tell the jury how you feel abou this bullshit.>

I\'m tired of the muthafuckin jackin
Sweatin my gang while I\'m chillin in the shackin
Shining tha light in my face, and for what
Maybe it\'s because I kick so much butt

I kick ass, or maybe cuz I blast
On a stupid assed nigga when I\'m playin with the trigga
Of any Uzi or an AK
Cuz the police always got somethin stupid to say

They put up my picture with silence
Cuz my identity by itself causes violence
The E with the criminal behavior
Yeah, I\'m a gansta, but still I got flavor

Without a gun and a badge, what do ya got?
A sucka in a uniform waitin to get shot,
By me, or another nigga.
and with a gat it don\'t matter if he\'s smarter or bigger
[MC Ren: Sidle him, kid, he\'s from the old school, fool]

And as you all know, E\'s here to rule
Whenever I\'m rollin, keep lookin in the mirror
And there\'s no cue, yo, so I can hear a
Dumb muthafucka with a gun

And if I\'m rollin off the 8, he\'ll be tha one
That I take out, and then get away
And while I\'m drivin off laughin
This is what I\'ll say

Fuck the police (4X)

The jury has found you guilty of bein a redneck,
whitebread, chickenshit muthafucka.
Wait, that\'s a lie. That\'s a goddamn lie.
I want justice! I want justice!
Fuck you, you black muthafucka!>

Fuck the police (3X)
