Thanks again Matt.

I still stand by it would be expensive if we did it all ourselves! The reason this didn\'t cost much was all matt had to do was create an account (free) and then PAY for the higher level option user so that he could have more bandwidth and longer broadcast time. this still cost something, and matt paid for it.

A site like this didn\'t exist back then, and if we were to design all of the broadcasting coding and equipment/buy it ourselves it would have cost a lot more than this did. It\'s no different than hd; ken is now taping hd and peck ahs a photography camera that records hd. years ago we could have pooled our money and bought 1 hd camera, or bought several sd ones individually and done multicamera shoots.the older the technology gets, the cheaper it becomes and eventually we can afford it.

sorry if we don\'t make enough money to suffice your needs though, I\'ll talk to my boss and see what i can do about that. ;)

No Paul if you bothered to actually check those threads I put in I actually gave info on sites JUST like the one that Matt used last night.

Yes the thread from \'04 these sites were not around the 2nd thread from \'07 I gave a specific site Ustream.tv which is the same as blogtv and which Leafers have been using to watch TLG webcasts the same fairly cheap way for the past year or so.

My point is this could have been done earlier from someone that was as motivated as Matt.

I am very appreciative that Matt took the time/effort and spent the $ to do this and to show how easy it actually is to do.

I can only hope that others follow suit.

ah, I was just busting your balls.

anyway I don\'t know when matt got his, but you need a decent laptop to do this which is something neither i or fitzy has. better late than never man.

Oh no I totally agree with that.

However there\'s just one person in all the fans of this band that has a laptop?

No one could have figured something out in collaboration with you guys to get this done before?

No one thought of doing these before last night?

Oh all the times we have had live updates via the web no one could have tried to hook up Ken\'s camera or something?

Only one motivated person out of the bunch and out of the blue huh?

Amazing.

matt was shown how to do this at the macpods show last week and decided to try it out.

you\'ve obviously never seen us try to get people to run camera and help out taping a show.

^^^ exactly.

the only reason it happened last night was because of the macpodz gig last week. i dont think anyone besides the current tapers are motivated to do anything. months ago when people were complaining about upstate shows not being taped i posted a link to the alesis protrack -a  $200 add on for ipod that transforms it into a suitable deck for recording live music in 16bit WAV.

it has built in microphones for steath recording and XLR inputs for external mics (extra with $100 for the mics/t-bar included). So for $300 and the ipod u already have u would have everything u need for audience recording with mics on a stand when taping is allowed, or use it as a steath recorder for northampton venues.

there were several people who said they wanted to get into taping before i posted it, but no one was motivated to actually do anything and breakfast shows are still going untaped. no one wants to spend any money at all, no one wants to do any work, especially when it requires getting there early and maybe drinking less.

i would help with a taping of a show (video wise), but no one has ever asked me.  and i dont want to step on the toes of people who do it currently.   studio just got in tons of new equipment this week thanks to state grants (thanks taxpayers), including 6 brand new mini hd cameras.  If we ever wanted to do an elaborate multi shot of a show, we can.   just someone needs to approach me.

that would be cool. we should do it when we have 5 or 6 people plus ken willing to run cameras all night.

no gear allowed into fenway so it would have to stay on the bus, but we\'d be getting there right before showtime which means someone without phish tickets would have to go and set up all gear at harpers...

i say we should try for the next show after harper\'s ferry.

i just checked the calendar at that would be the boat cruise.   I wonder if the boat allows cameras on board?  and i wonder if the whole show would be filmed on a slant?  ;)

I just think of the day I met you and what I ended up doing for the rest of that set.

Seems if I can watch a camera when I was on vacation and in no way ready to be that responsible on the spur of the moment, someone out there could plan to help out which seems to be happening in this thread.

Sorry for nagging on this but it just sucks that little things like this that can do so much good for the band\'s visibility have been ignored until now and people wonder why the band is in such dire straits and in need of a severe organizational overhaul.
