here\'s the kicker. an ex-gf of mine used to be jason mraz\'s best friend. we used to get together and jam pretty often. i couldn\'t stand it!!!!

all he knew were dmb songs and he kept trying to sing just like dave. well, one day i fucking flew off the handle and let mraz know that the only reason dave sings like that is because he has had no vocal training and most likely can\'t hear himself. he sings like mary matlin (the deaf chick) talkes!!! dude, nasally is not a positive attribute when it comes to singing. neither is pulling the back of your tongue up to your soft palette and trying to sing through that. and if you think those are good techniques, then you deserve every bit of ridicule you\'ll get for the rest of you\'re fucking life!!

I was never fond of his voice either.

Anyone else a hater of studio Umphrey\'s vocals?  I hear their tunes on my various Pandora stations and can\'t stand the vocals.

I like DMB music.  Too bad going to their shows makes you creepy if you\'re older than 23.

Something nobody has ever been able to  adequately explain to me is why people taped and traded tapes of DMB shows, just like Phish tapes.  I don\'t know if this still goes on, but it was definitely happening from 97-99.  What were these people thinking?

they were high.

the one dmb show i went to, i was with a kid who called the opening song, the segues, the cover song, closing song, and encore. that was his 5th or 6th time seeing dmb that year. wouldn\'t it get boring to see the same set over and over and over and OVER???

:scared: the internet is far too small of a place!!!

for the sake of full disclosure, he did have a good voice, but since most of what he was singing at the time were dmb tunes, he was using it wrong. i remember listening to a 4 track demo of a song he\'d written. it was cheesy as hell, waaaay dmb-ish, and far too poppy, for me. however, it was also well constructed, catchy, and obvious that the girls would love it.
