I think people\'s irrational hate for DMB is hilarious. It\'s almost never predicated on the music, but instead on the generalization of the fanbase. I\'m sure most of the people on here who have declared their hatred have never been to a dave matthews band show or are familiar with their "headier" days. THe fact is they used to be great. The\'ve played with John Popper, PHish, Bela Fleck, Herbie Handcock, and several others. To this day Carter Beauford is still my favorite drummer and I will put Dave himself up there with any great lyracist. Without DMB I probably would have never gotten into PHish, Disco Biscuits, the Breakfast, etc...They were my "gateway band".
I\'ve probably only seen 3 or 4 shows since 2000 and on the whole I have not been moving in the same musical direction as they have lately, but that doesn\'t mean there wasn\'t a time they were my favorite band. I would dig up some of my old stuff and post it here, but it probably wouldn\'t be worth the effort for this crowd.
The obnoxious frat boys, drunken assholes, and absurd ticket prices don\'t make it any easier for me to get out and see them these days, but under the right circumstances I would be excited to check them out again.
