If Tim is going to get another Tele, may I suggest this one.

tim is a strat player at heart..but i think the sg has the roar needed and action for the bands sound...imho

New pups for the Strat maybe? I think a good Strat can out-roar any Gibson product. Billy Corgan comes to mind. IMO there has still never been a better sounding or playing guitar designed than the Stratocaster.. with the exception of playing speed metal maybe

If Tim likes to play the Strat better I reckon he should.

That said, who wants to trade me my Aria Pro II Les Paul that I never use for another Stratocaster ;)

Compared to the sg the strat feels like a block of wood, heavy, and the bolt on neck just kills it.

Everything you just said I agree with the opposite. Not trying to be a dick about it. But once my Stratocaster warms up after a little bit of playing it becomes like another part of my body.

I guess it\'s a good thing that both exist.. different strokes :)

I kinda wish he still had the Tele around these days (those bastards that stole it will never play it the way it should be played!!), the SG\'s been through it all, the thefts, the years, the tours but he still went out for a new Strat when he needed to buy a guitar.  I think he is slightly more face melting on the Strat, It fits him like a glove, allthough to my ears at times it sounds thin (but I\'ve always been a humbucker kinda guy).  He needs a guitar as versatile as he is... Humbuckers with coil-tapping (can be played single-coil), that can be played in phase or out of phase, just every bell & whistle possible, why choose when you can have it all, and Tim I\'m sure could make use of it all!

didn\'t Tim start playing strat using Adrian\'s fender?

when did he start bringing his own strat to shows?

He used to have a Black & White Strat that was stolen before the Tele was stolen... don\'t know much about the dates... it\'s all a blur to me!

Lois: What the hell?  Marilyn Manson?  Is that who\'s causing all this?  Peter: Yeah, it\'s all him or hers fault.  Who does he or she think he or she is?  Look, you can totally see his or her nipples.  That\'s obscene... maybe.  Lois: There\'s only one thing to do.  Peter: You\'re right.  We got to find this Marilyn Manson and I\'ve got to give that bastard or bitch a piece of my mind or penis.

I still prefer the SG but I don\'t mind seeing the strat get pulled out.

This thread dealt with tele vs sg but had some interesting responses.

I prefer the Tele!!     Tim was using the Tele pretty much as his main axe when I first got into PB (Late 2002).  The tele had such a "psychedelic tone" which is that Tele twang that I thought fit the band perfectly.  Just watch that Porters DVD!  But as far as Strat vs. SG.    I\'ll go with the SG.

Tim\'s guitar history in Pb-The Breakfast:  This is an educated guess!  Any specific dates or corrections are definitely welcome!

98-01- Strat (stolen)
01-Current -SG
02-05 - Tele (stolen)
05-Current -Strat

F@ck those Sons-a-bitches who stole Pb\'s equipment!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Damn bummer about the SG!
Time to hit up Warmoth or USA Custom for a new one?

I don\'t know the exact nature of the damage but maybe it\'s possible to re-set the neck? Then again if the body and fretboard saw damage it may be hard to salvage.

(long live the Strat.. or Tele... but sorry about your loss Tim)

What a bummer about the SG! :(

My first electric was an East German Strat copy - still got it and it still gets used as my primary guitar for working thinsg out at home - solely because it\'s leaning up in the corner of a room, making it accessible.

I kind of agree it\'s sometimes difficult to tell the difference on recordings, but when I have known which guitar it was, I think I prefer the tone on a Gibbo humbucker, so the SG would get my vote.

However, if it\'s now dead, how about trying a 335 or similar for slower stuff - then we\'d really get to hear some tone and sustain. Or for the best of both worlds, I\'m sure he could really rip it up on a PRS.

i was wondering when someone would mention a PRS.  i think timmy would have a nice tone with the PRS, and he could still play the shit out of it.  would be interesting.  i like the Becker\'s too for tone lately.  Jake from UM is using one and it sounds real nice.
