is it just me or does dick chainey, now that hes in a wheel chair and more slumped over than ever, look very similar to pope john paul III in his last year?

Last time I checked after Pope John Paul II past away, we got Benedict.  No matter how you feel at the Catholic religion, I would never put Chainey and Paul II in the same context; the man (Paul II) was a saint among the rest.

Today, America is kind of like Andy Dufresne in The Shawshank Redemption. We dug our tunnel out of jail, but we still have to avoid the guards, dogs, snipers and search parties if we ever want to... ummm... get to Mexico? OK, so the analogy kind of breaks down there, but you get the point.

Congratulations, Mr. President. Get to work.

went to some of the \'we are one\' concert on sunday - good not great

went to Arianna Huffington\'s ball last night at the Newseum (http://www.newseum.org/) where Sheryl Crow, will.i.am. and Sting performed.  Got to meet Sting and Jesse Jackson.

today i went to the inauguration, was pretty close, incredibly moving few hours.  the speech was inspiring.

tonight i should be going to Biden\'s Home States Ball where Obama will be speaking and Maroon 5 is performing.  After that I randomly may be meeting up with Wyclef Jean..no joke.

DC has been great the past few days.  everyone is incredibly happy and supportive of our new president.

Sounds like fun, imagine how fun it would be if you were old enough to drink!

This is as good a thread as any for post 3,000!  Still a long way to go for the ***** MUFFIN OF MERIT[/COLOR] (4200 posts).

Watched live from the cafeteria at Staples HQ with about 1000 people crammed in the caf.  I guess it was kinda cool to be watching in the HQ of one of America\'s most powerful corporations with a big crowd.  Good song by the classical musical allstars, very good speech by the Big O, and what the heck was on Aretha\'s head?  haha good times.  Way to go O.  I rock with Barack.  Let\'s do it!

to be honest, it\'s usually just people i know.  the bonnaroo stuff was because i went with a band on the bill.  one of the band member\'s girlfriend\'s father is the main lawyer for bonnaroo, radiohead, trey and others.

as for the inauguration stuff, i just had family or friends coming down who had extra tickets to all the events..didn\'t end up paying for anything other than some transportation.  also didn\'t end up going to Biden\'s thing tonight..too sick from standing for hours today at the capitol in the freezing cold.

I found his speech fantastic. It was eloquently written, delivered with power, and its intentions believable (to me at least). So many points gave me chills, but this stood out as one of my favorites:

"To those who cling to power through corruption and deceit and the silencing of dissent, know that you are on the wrong side of history; but that we will extend a hand if you are willing to unclench your fist."

And so it begins..........
The crickets and the rust-beetles scuttled among the nettles of the sagethicket. "Vamanos amigos," he whispered, and threw the busted leather flintscraw over the loose weave of the saddlecock. And they rode on in the friscalating dusklight.  --Eli Cash

Agreed, great speech. It defenately gave me the chills a few times and may even have brought a tear to me eye.
