for someone who\'s never heard them, i would suggest listening to the album \'the sunlandic twins\'...some very catchy songs. plus the last couple albums would be tough to listen to (for me) if i didn\'t know what i was in for stylistically. there\'s not a whole lot a songs from that album in the show. if you want, i can sendspace a couple of the tracks when i get the chance (if i remember)

I\'m sure that I will, but I was just asking for an opinion.  I can\'t download mp3s at work and wanted to get an idea of what it was like before I downloaded.

Anyone who wants to help me out with an idea of what their music is like.

Thanks.

I\'ve listened up to the encore break and I am pleasantly surprised.  The ony song that I really didn\'t like at all was "Id Engager".    They almost sound 80\'s-ish in the respect that I can imagine hearing them played at a roller rink.  Not bad though.  I\'ve enjoyed what I\'ve heard so far.

My buddy went to the 10-30-2008 show in Boston (I think)... he had 4th row seats so I guess that was better than the Freakout.

Anyway he said they were hanging themselves on stage and doing all kinds of fucked up shit, I saw some pics he took and it looked like some kind of freak circus.

He convinced me to download a couple of their CDs maybe a year ago but I found them unlistenable.

peace!

I finished the show and overall I enjoyed it.  I\'m not sure I\'d jump at going to see them live or buy their CD, but I do think that they are talented.  I do find it strange that the lead singer talked with an american accent, but sings like he\'s from england.  It\'s usually the opposite, isn\'t it?

which cds did you get? they have a *lot* of albums, and a lot of their old ones are hard to get into. to me, they are a really progressive band, and going backwards just isn\'t really possible...

they were part of the whole elephant 6 crew (olivia tremor control, neutral milk hotel etc) who basically made some of craziest organized chaos of music i\'ve ever heard.... thus, most of their early albums are pretty unlistenable....

however, the later albums that feature mostly kevin barnes\' influence (i think he recorded most of Hissing Fauna by himself) focus more on melodies and song structure vs. the abstract art of the earlier albums. you should really give Satanic Panic in the Attic and The Sunlandic Twins a shot ! they are a good jumping-in point.

it\'s kind of funny, because i didnt like many of their albums right off the bat, but with some repeated listening, it was more addicting than any band i\'ve ever been a fan of....
