Was the venue close to capacity?  I don\'t think the band has ever played a doooze at the Iron Horse in 8+ years.

Did the Raq people all come out of the woodwork for Stoops\' debut?

fuck the iron horse and every other IHEG venue. never again.

Seriously, if I had a dollar for every time I said that during college...

Let\'s get down to Fan MVPs last night.  First Dave Pec[/B] for taping while holding mics up, that was epic effort right there.  We\'ve had to support a lot of shitty venues over the years in order to support The Breakfast and we deal with it, but I support you 100% if you want to be dunzo with IHEG. IHEG has employed nothing but assholes for a SOLID DECADE.  I have so many bad stories from each of their venues.  Remember how I used to bring flyers with directions to my house back in the ser afterparty days?  They made me throw them out, "no flyers".  "Here, read it, it\'s directions to my house for my friends."  "Throw them out or get the fuck out."  So I threw them out and went back and pulled them out of the trash an hour later when nobody was looking.  So stupid.  Or how about all the times they have turned the lights on DURING THE ENCORE?  Gee, you really can\'t wait 1 minute for the band to finish?  Second-worst venue taping policy EVER!  Worst, of course, would still be Tobacco Road completely banning taping and then recording the show themselves and making The Breakfast pay $50 if they wanted the tape.

Second MVP goes to bdfreetuna Josh (and roommate Ashley) for ser pre AND post party.  That takes a lot of effort.  I\'m glad you liked the wings.  Headiest living room I\'ve seen in a long time.  I hope you have us next time.

As for the band, I think bdfreetuna makes a lot of good points.  The show was very very good when compared to all shows by all bands.  The Iron Horse only rages that hard maybe once a month no matter who plays there.  But by Breakfast standards it was middle of the road.  The cartoon themes are fun and they make me smile.  I\'m certainly not one of the people who was whining when they announced the theme: "waaaaahhhh, I\'m not going to the shows, they\'re going to play cartoon themes. waaahhhhh "  Heck, I LOVE the Transformers and GI Joe themes!  But how much they really add to the show is open to debate.  I think they might be better off playing Breakfast tunes and teasing a whole bunch of cartoon themes throughout the night rather than stopping the show to actually play the themes completely.

As for stoops, he didn\'t take anything away so overall I\'d say his impact was positive. As I said when Matt joined the band, I would caution everyone against making any serious conclusions until he has played 25 shows with the band.  Stoops can obviously play great keys, and after a good 4 months/25 shows I am pretty sure he can play great keys with the Breakfast.  It\'s not gonna happen that fast.

OK, I\'m done, see you tonight!

I agree with every single one of Seth\'s points. Don\'t have much left to say, other than it was wonderful to see everyone.

Oh, here\'s someting that bugged me: throughout the course of the night I spoke to several Raq fans who all pretty much had the same things to say:

* They were annoyed/bummed that The Breakfast weren\'t playing any Raq songs (What the hell, it\'s a Breakfast show. Also, come on, these guys have had barely any time to practice together.)
* The show was not a good example of Stoops\' ability (not sure what to say about this)
* Tim is almost as good as Raq\'s guitar player ()
* There is no way Stoops will stay with the band (not sure what to say about this either)

Thought that was worth mentioning.

^^^^^^^too hot to touch.  But I\'ll lightly touch it anyway : )

I can see your point Freddie.  What it really boils down to is just the way they go about it.  Bottom line is that they are such unbelievable d-bags about the most trivial things, it\'s unnecessary, and they have been this way for at least 10 years.  None of us can possibly be neutral in this, we\'re way too close to it.  If someone wasn\'t there and didn\'t care about either party then I could see them arguing IHEG\'s side.  (And they would have to simultaneously appreciate Pec\'s dedication.)  But if you had seen the behavior of the two parties involved there would be no way you could take IHEG\'s side, you just couldn\'t.

Maybe 75%  They did manage to get the balcony opened for the first time in a while.

Au contraire, there was one!  It was such a doozie that nobody was there but me! Granted they were opening for Dr. Didg and were not headlining, but still.  The dance floor consisted of 4 people sitting in chairs: 3 people who must have been Dr. Didg\'s gf, sister, and mom... and me.  The entire crowd was about 30, but the 4 of us were the only ones even listening.  The most ironic thing is that the next time they played there, 9/14/01, the line to get in was longer than the whole Iron horse\'s capacity and many never got in, a true sellout.

I don\'t know.  But reading what Jocelyn said is kind of, yeah, I don\'t know what to say about that. If Tim played a night with Raq I would not expect to hear any Breakfast tunes, I know that.

Solid show, lame ass venue and jackass people working there.

Dave, thanks for taking a big one for the team. I\'m speechless.
"Anyone who knows a god damn thing about this band and has been there as long as some of us have, know god damn well that this show was something special." Ren re: Toads 8/23/07

I was actually at the PB/Dr Didg show.  Too long ago for me to even remember it being a dooze though.
