This was the best show I\'ve seen since Camden, 7-3-2000, an all-time favorite of mine as I was on the lawn in a sick thunderstorm during Bathtub.
Last night, I was on the lawn--until Pec thankfully stubbed me down, during Forbin\'s > Mockingbird of all times--but then got to witness the rest of the show front and center from the 18th row.
What I witnessed was an outstanding performance in terms of execution, antics, and of course, song selection. First Forbin\'s > Mockingbird and I Didn\'t Know in 39 shows and also glad that I\'ve now seen the last two Icculus\' since I was at Oswego. The Icculus story was hilarious (put down your cell phones and read the book!)
If I wanted to nitpick, I could say that there wasn\'t a ton of jamming, but hey, the Piper jam was solid and they did take it out there down the stretch. Ghost jam was also good as they wasted no time in building the intensity with Trey leading the way. Slowly but surely, they are extending themselves and taking more chances.
And as if this show needed anything more, Psycho Killer? Oddly enough, that was part of a Talking Heads\' show that was played in the pre-show music, along with Beck\'s Guero.
And strangely, I\'ve now seen Catapult more times than Simple, four to three.
It is truly a pleasure to see Phish having so much fun on stage while playing well and unearthing some gems off the roster.
