Damn well said Spaceman.

Then again I miss 90% of shows due to passing out with a needle in my arm and then, upon regaining consciousness, hiding from Skye\'s husband. Maybe I really do need to re-evaluate the reasons I go to a helluvalotta shows. :rolls:

You are hysterical really.  you should take it on the road.   Wow.

I thought this thread was about the Phish tour??

Me too.. Phish tour involves more than music ....

It involves more than music??  Last time i checked, i went to shows for the music.  Any show, phish or whatever i am seeing.   I am there for the music.  If you are there for other things, then in my opinion, you are missing out.

I agree that music is the primary part reason to go to Phish. I also believe that Phish is so much more than just the 4 guys on the stage playing their songs. They know it too.

Phish is a community. It is a sport. It is an escape. It is a way of life. It is an experience.

The lot, the people you meet is a huge part of what makes Phish, PHISH!

Going to Phish is not like going to any other concert, IMHO. I have never seen any band put on a show as enjoyable as Phish.

I definitely agree that the people, the scene, the energy add to the experience...however i think he was trying to imply, that i was arguing,  that you need "substances" at a show to enjoy the whole experience and having people trying to take those away from you damper the scene.

Whatever happens on the lots, in my opinion, should not change the outcome of the show inside the venue.   Lots could have a riot, people getting arrested, but if that show is the most amazing show ever, that will not take away from it.  The music is the music.   Everything on the lots is extra.  its fluff.  its manufactured fun in what our society/the scene wants you to believe you should be doing to have a good time.

In the end, your show experience is what you make it.   We each probably have our own thing we like to do. I just hate that i am told by someone who has never met me, that i\'m not a real fan and i can\'t enjoy myself because who i am marrying.    I didn\'t know it was a crime to love phish, love music, and love a narc.

I could not agree with this statement any more than I already do. You get out of Phish what you put in to Phish. I have no control over how you decide to enjoy your show. This is your right. This is the same mentality why I never bitch at a Phish show what they are playing because you never know who might love it around you. I have no right to impede on your fun.

IMO, Phish would not exist to the extent it does without what happens out side of the venue before the show. I don\'t consider the lot manufactured fun and society telling me what to believe is a good time. I tell myself what to do and I am responsible for it. The Phish lot is like any other traveling tribe. People are dependent on each other. If society could take some of the "strangers stopping strangers, just to shake their hands mentality" then the world, IMO, would be a much better place.

I don\'t give a shit what anyone thinks about me. I have no control over that. People will always have their opinions about me. That it is not worth caring what other people say because in the end, you jsut have to deal and answer for yourself.

Phish reworks Quinn well. Roses are free is also a fun one.

Phish covers are great... they are songs from bands you rarely hear, and Phish makes them their own

Another truth.

Some Phish covers, YaMar for example, are so Phish that Phish is the only band who could have written it.

I hold all bands to this standard when it comes to covers and it is not fair.

And no... enjoying Phish, going to shows, and marrying a narc is obviously not a crime. Just highly fucking unusual in a way that would make 95% of fans probably uncomfortable hanging around you. I could be clean and sober for the last 10 years and still consider a narc to be among the lowest of professions. At least ambulance chasers don\'t have to hide their identity...

If 95% of the fans are uncomfortable to be around me, then that\'s their issue. I am there for the music.   Not for people\'s comfort level.   He is there for the music cause he knows how much i like it, and he actually enjoys it himself.   He is not on the clock.   He\'s pretty laid back.   We are there to enjoy the experience together.

A Narc isn\'t the lowest profession.   Marijuana=not the thing they go after.   It\'s Heroin.  We have a HUGE heroin epidemic here in CT in the white suburbs.    That\'s who they bust.  I think busting heroin dealers is pretty fucking brave and dangerous.  Those are some crazy mofos.

The day you have to go into a ghetto to buy heroin with NO VEST from the sleaziest drug lord around, worrying they\'ll know who you are, and risk getting shot, then talk to me how its the lowest profession.  You know what i think is the lowest profession, anyone who sits at a cubicle, and doesn\'t get to look out the window of life and experience it.....

I don\'t see too many comedians, musicians, or otherwise free thinking consciously-liberated individuals advocating a police state. Think I\'ll stick to graphic/web and exercising my 1st amendment rights for now.

I happen to agree that opiates are soul-stealing substances and should be only used under careful medical supervision. I won\'t even take Vicodins or Percosets after surgery or other painful incidents simply because they feel like poison to my soul.

So, good job on the heroin thing. Really.

But the FACT is while cops and DEA will tell you they don\'t care about busting pot smokers and other people who are in fact *victims* of either their own disease or a substance that has simply got the best of them... the vast majority of people in jail due to drug offenses are there due to such "crimes". And the fact that I\'ve seen Narcs bust kids over small amounts of marijuana (and also just simply steal it without busting them) makes me wonder WTF exactly are you talking about? Maybe your to-be-hubby is on the Heroin task force but, other than that, get real.

(From the Department of Justice, by the way.... I could have picked an even more fun chart from NORML web site but I don\'t want to appear biased... lol)

Here\'s an even better one...

Regarding your last statement.... you know me so well

I\'ll leave your hubby out of this. Fair enough. But this is a philosophical discussion and certainly a valid one at that. But if you don\'t like hearing people complaining about the police you might want to put some cotton in your ears (or by all means, feel free to put me on your ignore list!)

Boogie On

They should really pull out some more frequent Remain In Light. That set was off the chaaaain son!
