His name could only be...
Posted by Eric Wilbur, Boston.com Staff May 21, 2009 09:47 AM

Ten days until Phish plays Fenway Park. Baseball and the band collide.

To get you in the mood, here’s a list of Red Sox player nicknames - each based on a Phish song or cover - inspired by acquaintance TJ Morton, who sent the original roster in an early morning email hours after the Red Sox won the 2004 World Series. It worked because, when you think of it, there are few more passionate fan bases than Red Sox and Phish followers. And now, thanks to the tour opener at Fenway Park, it has a bit more relevance.

The names have evolved since the original conception, and some are certainly better than others. But if you can do better than the likes of ChalkDustin Pedroia, well, we’d like to see you try.

The Hall of Fame:

OrTweezer/ OrTweeprise ("Tweezer" -"Tweeprise"/David Ortiz)

Youk Enjoy Myself ("You Enjoy Myself"/Kevin Youkilis)

Ellsburied Alive ("Buried Alive"/Jacoby Ellsbury)

Matsuzaka Policeman ("Makisupa Policeman"/Daisuke Matsuzaka)

RemDawg Stole Things ("Dogs Stole Things"/Jerry Remy)

Okajima Ceremony ("Oh Kee Pa Ceremony"/Hideki Okajima)

Saito Killer ("Psycho Killer"/ Takashi Saito)

ChalkDustin Pedroia ("Chalk Dust Torture"/Dustin Pedroia)

On the roster:

Split Open and Kielty ("Split Open and Melt"/Bobby Kielty)

Jason Varitek- "Punch You in the Eye"

The Manny Who Stepped Into Yesterday

Francona Dance ("Moma Dance"/Terry Francona)

HaHaHavier Lopez ("Ha, Ha, Ha"/Javier Lopez)

Sample in Millar ("Sample in a Jar"/Kevin Millar)

Julius Yamarez ("Ya Mar"/Julian Tavarez)

Runaway Timlin ("Runaway Jim"/Mike Timlin)

"Character Zero" - JD Drew

Back to the minors:

Jonathan Piperbon ("Piper"/Jonathan Papelbon)

Buffalo Bill Mueller ("Buffalo Bill"/Bill Mueller)

Beckett on the Train ("Back on the Train"/Josh Beckett)

Timlin Ho! ("Timber Ho!"/Mike Timlin)

"Wolfman\'s Brother" (Johnny Damon)

Uncle Pineiro ("Uncle Pen"/Joel Pineiro)

MDC Bag ("AC/DC Bag"/Manny Delcarmen)

Coco Twist ("Twist"/Coco Crisp)

Wow, I could have come up with a better list.

Note the predominace of 2nd-teir players, and none of the legands.

Don\'t forget about Big Green Furry Monster from Mars, or as die-hard fans, know it BGFMFM.

haven\'t read every page of this thread so don\'t know if that was mentioned earlier, but was talking with friends a couple days ago and we were thinking they are going to play that at fenway (with those or similar lyrics)

heard from a reliable source that we will be getting a monologue song first set at fenway...that is all

????????

File another one under the DS#s "Peculiar Information" file.
Where do you keep coming up with this stuff?

that will remain confidential till after fenway

You crack me up.  I love it.  Your sources are always soooooo in the know on every detail of everything and they sooooooo must have their identities kept secret or else they\'ll stop giving you all of their inside info ;)  Classic message board nonsense right here.  Hilarious.

Just know that I am holding you to your word of revealing your source after Fenway.  I\'ll also be curious to know what happened and why they changed their mind and decided not to open with a "monologue song".  I\'ll be posting both of these questions after the show, so have your statement ready!

read carefully, i didnt not say they are opening with one, i just said that we will get one i the first set.  that is all.  i cannot say anymore or i might have a price on my head.

First set, opener, whatever.  The only thing on your head is going to be a dunce cap after this shit doesn\'t happen.  And you have to reveal your source AND explain when and why Phish changed their mind from the setlist they wrote two weeks in advance.

Thanks for the nicknames Dave, some good ones there.  Paul and I are thinking about making that into a lineup-card sign and bringing it to the park this Saturday.  The Red Sox should be honored to take the field that PHISH plays on!

:hscratch: the same way anything in post #2343 has to do with one another?? :hscratch:

let\'s break it down slowly for newbers...

black....creature
green.....monster

on the left, we have colors. color is the visual perceptual property corresponding in humans to the categories called red, yellow, blue and others. color derives from the spectrum of light (distribution of light energy versus wavelength) interacting in the eye with the spectral sensitivities of the light receptors.

on the right, we have examples of living things. a creature is a living organism. the term is derived from a widespread historical belief in creationism. the word is generally used to refer to non-human animals but does include humans, and it is also sometimes used to mean monster.

we got this?

got ya dave.  you should cite that wikipedia reference, especially since you copied it nearly verbatum.  If you were actually a scientist you might know that.  (dont take that personally, i have lots of respect for you, just dont make me sound like a dumbass)

back to the point, i still think the comparison is somewhat vauge.  i just cant see everyone in the crowd going "I told ya so!" and pointing to the green monster as they are playing BBFCFM...I was refering more to weekapaug\'s post, rather than chris\'s post, about how phish will probably play BBFCFM just because the gren monseter is present at fenway.  now "Mound" would be a good choice since there is a "mound" sitting in the middle of the infield.

we got this?
