the level of phish mania on this board is really disturbing.

If if didn\'t know better I would think was phishnewbs.info.... a place where 19 year old custi bitches who have seen 0-4 phish shows and ZERO breakfast shows come together and anxiously wait for the day they can once again give true meaning to their life and enthusiastically lap up the piss of an over the hill novelty act on their washed up greatest hits tour with 40,000 other clueless newbs to life, dirt bags, fratboys, scenester wiggers, and  other various posers.

anyway... c ya at spac you pathetic groupie bitches.

yea well if there were more b\'fast shows we could talk about all of them. :duck:

Haha.  OK obviously this is sarcastic but it DOES indirectly raise two interesting questions:

1.  How the hell is a band that clearly peaked 10-15 years ago now three times as popular as ever?   (Not to mention in a down economy?)  Not that they suck or anything, they\'re still awesome, but the product is clearly down from what it was a long time ago and NOW they peak in popularity?

2.  How does any band take 5 years off and triple its fanbase?  That just doesn\'t make sense.  Is this the ultimate nostalgia act?

people still like drugs. but a lot of people haven\'t had anything to do worthwhile whilst on said drugs. now they do. whoo hoo!!!

(i also credit great marketing - they came back to 3 dates at a relatively small place and got buzz going. then they announced the first half of the summer tour which includes a couple bigger places, but also the smallest places they\'ve played in 15ish years - as more people get shut out, more demand. then they throw out the last half, which are almost all at places they usually sell out anyway - so even more demand for places where demand is already at its highest. and only playing, essentially, half a tour\'s worth of dates also heightens the demand...)

Corect me if I am wrong, but in terms of reference, wouldn\'t the Grateful Dead be good?

Using that as a base, I would argue that they peaked in 69-71, then again in their post-"retirement" and pre-departure of the goodcheuxes...

however their hit single was in the 80s, and they were touring stadiums through \'95.

Maybe there is a need in the greater wookie culture to be able to claim to be a part of something larger than yourself so that when you are sitting on your parents couch with acid cursing through your viens you can pretend you mean something and can claim that you have "done" something with your life.

i think they keep adding dates because the demand is so high to see them...how could they not..i bet after this tour they are going to make out like bandits...i think by the end of the summer they will not be in a recession and us fans sure will...i would also like to think that they are loving the fact they are back together and just want to enjoy that and play as many shows as they can...just like they did in the past...i think that many fans may have been too young to see them and now they are finally getting their chance...i cant hate on those kids as much as i want too because if i wasnt so lucky to have awesome parents to drop me off when i was 15 at the new haven coliseum.....i would not have had all the wonderful phantastic phish experiences that i did...so either way call them noobs or whatever you like...we were all kids once...maybe there are also fans out there who had to drift from going to shows due to other obligations and now can make the time and effort to see them...i think that we can go on analyzing this forever...but either way i am super pumped to see them...and hope that they make me smile and dance around like they did in the old days...
maybe the sun will shine today...
the clouds will roll away..
maybe i wont be so afraid..
i will understand that everything has its plan...
either way...

First and foremost, I just want to say a huge thanks to the two .info members who have just offered me a ticket.  Awesome.  Way to keep it amongst phriends.  This will be repaid many times over, there are more shows to come!

Second, the obligatory ticket story from the season ticket holder onsale that just happened.  I was standing right there watching the screen as my amazing director started refreshing at 11:55.  She was so into it!  It goes active, we get in going for 4, miss one impossible captcha word, it takes a while to return a result...12:01:40, sorry chip.  We reload for 2.  12:03:10, sorry chip.  3 tix...12:04:02 sorry chip.  We then tried for a single 6 or 7 times and got completely sorry chipped.  Then we kept trying various amounts up until 12:17 and got completely sorry chipped until a new message came up that nothing was available and the form was gone.

WOW.  0 chance for a 15-year season ticket holder.  Yesterday\'s Freddie-Wah password sale truly was a miracle.  Congrats everyone!  .info PARTY AT PHENWAY!!!
