Looking for Free Microsoft Office for Mac
« on: September 29, 2008, 01:07:44 am »
I bought a Macbook and i want to install microsoft office, or at least microsoft word.  anyone know of any good sites that would have such things (preferably free)?  i\'ve looked download.com but i don\'t want to install anything unnecessary or that doesn\'t work.  thanks!!

go to openoffice.org and get the mac version of open office. its not microsoft office, but their  program is free and it does the same thing as microsoft office and the documents you create are compatible with microsoft office.

It should work.

When you go to save, there should be a check compatibility button.

"pages" in the iwork 08 bundle is cross platform compatible and very easy to use.  I sent work back and forth to my work pc with out any trouble.

That you should already have...

thanks for the info about openoffice.  i\'ve downloaded it, but now i\'m having problems installing the application.  this X11 thing shows up and there\'s a command box.  i\'ve found this link for instructions but i dont know what the hell i\'m doing.
