composers like Carl Stalling are completely underappreciated. The music they wrote was very complex to perform and they were usually writing an entire piece ever 1-2 weeks! music that today would be considered progressive (or at least Stravinsky-esque if you needed someone to compare them to) due to the way it was written. The simple formula of "whenever we see a woman you play woman in red/factory you play powerhouse" and so on not only introduced a generation to classical pieces of music, it would force the musicians to change key, tempo, timbre and time signature sometimes every couple of bars simply to keep up with the pacing of the cartoons. Add to that their use of sound fx could be seen as a precursor of sampling which had not been seen used in another style of music since Tchaikovskys 1812 overture cannons and would not be again until Cage and Varese\'s electronics pieces. Try to play along with a looney tunes cartoon sometime to see just how complex this music is.

with any other band i would think the cartoon theme would be totally gay...but i\'m sure with two months to think about it, the breakfast will do something amazing. i\'m glad they\'re not covering another album. if it was zappa vs. funkadelic, i\'d be somewhere else.

this will be interesting to see what songs they chose, especially since there now is a big deviation in the age groups of fans. they should try to cover a lot of different eras, shows, stations, etc.

its gona be a fun Breakfast run with lots of teases, in this case, cartoons. Itll be cool to hear which ones they do and how they arrange it. Doubt theyll be doing Rugrats and Dora, but the Pink Panther theme song is cool and many of the composed songs could work real well in a Breakfast set.

if they don\'t cover CKY\'s "Skeletor vs. Beastman", the whole fucking thing will be one gigantic waste of time.

ah, I\'m not about to play it at work (don\'t have speakers anyway) but I\'m thinking this is that crazy video you played during your superbowl party a few years ago? :rotfl
