Should I go to the doctor?

Hey, feel about the same today. Woke up this morning with pretty bad chest pain too.

My mother\'s going to come over and take me to the doctor later. My brother had a friend die of meningitis and I really don\'t want to mess around with this sore neck thing, which keeps getting worse. (From what I have read though, if it was meningitis I\'d probably be a lot sicker by now.... But worth checking out anyhow. Could be something else too that needs taking care of.)

Thanks for looking out for me. : )

How was your comp?

It went really well. Cole put in a dressage test that was free of meltdowns (not even one spin, bolt, or rear, yay!) which is really good for him. He jumped clean and was really fast on cross country, per usual. He had one rail down in showjumping, but he jumped really well and the rail was my fault. He ended up 7th out of about 30, and got a nice purple ribbon which really brings out his eyes. :P I\'m really happy with him, especially considering this is his first season back after a year and a half. He\'s jumping great, and feels happy and confident.

It was a tough weekend for me though... I felt like shit all weekend. I\'m actually not really sure how I got it done. Cole pulls really hard when he gallops and it was murder on my already hurting neck.

Also, having stomach issues, and only porta-potties available all weekend is NOT a good time!

So one CT scan, several blood tests, a urine test, a stool test (so embarrassing!), one lumbar puncture, and one full night in the ER later, I do not have meningitis.

Apparently I have a stomach bug that coincidentally showed up at the same time that I strained my neck. Weird. Especially considering I didn\'t DO anything to strain my neck. (Granted, being full of 4 Advil at all times all weekend, and continuing to ride probably didn\'t help matters.) I would really think that with my neck this fucked up I would remember doing something to it.

So they sent me on my way this morning with a prescription for oxycodone, which is completely wreaking havoc on my stomach. *sigh*

Yeah, and I actually didn\'t think it was that bad. I got one when I was in high school that was a lot worse. This time they got fluid on the first try, and it didn\'t hurt much at all. It was mostly uncomfortable. Laying on my back in a room afterwards with a broken tv for what seemed like an eternity was the worst part. I wasn\'t supposed to move and it was so boring!

um, with something like a spinal tap, how long before you can ride horses again? I would think there would be a prolonged recovery time before you could do something like that, which would suck given your profession.

Nah. It\'s a pretty simple procedure actually. The main thing they worry about afterwards is headache, leakage, or infection. I had a headache going in, so who knows if I ended up with one due to the procedure. No leakage or infection yet that I am aware of.

I\'m not supposed to ride for a week, but that\'s because of my neck. I\'ll probably ride tomorrow if possible.

Check out these awesome spider bites. One\'s just smaller than a dime, and the other is a little smaller than that. The doc gave me doxycycline because they\'re pretty infected, and he thought there was a chance that it might be impetigo, which is a staph infection. I guess the doxy covers both bases.
