good point.

b-fast road trip!

do it!!

just about every breakfast show i have seen is via some weird route across the country.  oberlin in 7.5 hours (and a time zone change)...not sure what else is going on closer yet.  would travel for a 2-setter perhaps.  i get discouraged sometimes when i go so far out of my way to travel to see the breakfast and they only play one set...although some one-setters are the heat!

continue your bitching about boston.  some people seem to enjoy it.

God forbid this band ever makes any money.  Good for them, maybe with a little positive cash flow we can suspend the current trend of someone quiting the band every year.  And if OMS had anything to do with the band getting over paid for a gig, we should commend him. It\'s more than most of us have ever done.

I seriously have no idea why you guys are giving OMS shit for this. It boggles my mind.  If they had more fans like this who would seize the chance to get the band opportunities and exposure they would be better off for it, not the other way around.

Klout, you are directly blaming him and are being ignorant about the whole thing

sorry but you guys just don\'t get it....

Your the ones being ignorant about it...not me...

I understand why you THINK its good for the band and that OMS did the right thing because... like I said ...the intentions behind it are indeed well placed.....but your just not seeing the big picture here...

Incredibly stupid and poorly thought out suggestions made by well meaning but clueless fans for idiotic gigs on MAJOR nights of the year, accepted by the band\'s incompetent booking agent, okayed by their non-existent manager, and accepted by the band because its good money is simply not a recipe for the long or even short term success of this band!

Thats not an opinion. It\'s fact.

no one is arguing that the band making choices purely based on money is a good idea. the point im making is that a) you are blaming someone who got their name out there to a school who will probably appreciate the music and b) actively tries to help the band in anyway they can.  what have you done other then bitched about the fact that you can\'t see them on halloween?

and what you said IS OPINION not FACT. im far from clueless, i can assure you that, and I have the band\'s best interest in mind and did when I suggested them. so, klout, please get over yourself and understand that there is a world out there bigger than the North East.

I COMPLETELY AGREE that them playing a show on a night like halloween in the NE is probably going to get them a stronger turnout then a place like Oberlin, but that didn\'t enter my thoughts when my friend at a music-based school asked me for some suggestions.  in fact, i don\'t think any oct dates were even announced when i threw the name out there.  i suppose because they offered enough money, the band bit, and now this is happening. consider who your blaming and why.

im glad my 400th post can be dedicated to dealing with someone like this. (not)

You\'re wrong too

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Klout\'s quote
"Did you ever consider the fact that a well booked, well promoted, well themed, friday night, halloween night show, at a good, centrally located north east venue would have been a WAY better move for the band, actually giving them MORE and BETTER exposure, equal or close money, keeping the established fan base a lot happier, and overall would have been a way bigger success and milestone for the band?"

This is all well and good but you forget this is The Breakfast. Let\'s take your thought point by point.
Well Booked=haha they are booked by Crescendo duh!
Well promoted=haha there\'s like no way to promote these guys to .info satisfaction haven\'t you figured that out yet?
well themed=they are still doing the FF after duh
OK so yeah they have a gig on Halloween so that\'s good
What venue did you have in mind other than a vague description of a shit load of venues most of which The Breakfast do not draw the best.
If they could have gotten one that they thought would benefit them they would have. They couldn\'t.

just thought i would share a pm i just received.....you can figure out the source  ;)

hahah Duane I got the same message and I am glad because it brings up the opportuntity for a retort containing needed information.....

Of course I realize that all that good promo and the like is not the norm for the band but it IS possible!

Case in point.....LAST YEARS FREAKOUT!

Last years freakout was a HUGE success.

People came out from every corner of the north east and all over the country for it.

It got the band more positive media attention than they have ever gotten from one show, tons of exposure, lots of impressed new fans, a good pay day, etc.

This year had amazing potential to top that and be and even bigger and better success than last year and be an even more significant stepping stone and turning point in the bands career with the proper theme/venue/promotion etc.

The oberlin show was cop out and will be a dooze that does nothing for the band besides put a few extra dollars in their pocket that will be gone in a few days.

If you think oberlin was the right move for the band and a good suggestion by OMS your just not seeing the big picture.

klout, it sounds like you should be more mad at the band for accepting and deciding to do this gig, not for oms for offering it to them.

thank you, that is one of my main points in my previous posts. however, also understand that i didn\'t offer it to them haha. point being, had i known about these surrounding shows, i would have figured the band wouldn\'t accept the offer and i wouldn\'t have even thrown the idea out there to my buddy to book them.

Just throwin this out there... Last years Freakout was on OCT 27th!  now I know that the 31st is on a friday this year and having the freakout actually on Halloween would probably be ideal, however that\'s not really how it\'s been done in the past. So Btown will be the last night of a 3 night run same as last year and therefore will be the official Freakout or at least thats how I am looking at it as I don\'t see myself making it to Oberlin. Klout, why don\'t you just go to NOHO and Brahlington and stop trying to kick kidz off the lot (ha, bfast lot, good one).

wow, a whole lot of petty, bratty bickering about the band playing a gig at a music college for a big payday rather than at an entirely hypothetical gig in the NE up in this thread.

they are still having the FF, they are getting paid, they can still get positive media attention, so what exactly is the big deal, other than wanting them to play every show in the NE?

unless someone can guarantee the band will get paid as much for a NE gig than at oberlin and can guarantee this turning point that folks seem to think was gonna happen on this particular day, then it seems pretty pointless to bitch about it.

i mean, who knows, maybe, just maybe, the check they get for the oberlin gig is helping to pay for FF aspects or new gear or a tune up for the van or rent or baby food or any of a million other things the band could use a big payday for, ya know?!!

whaaaa, the band is getting paid and playing for new potential fans instead of for me and the same group of 100 people that always get to see them, whaaaa...
