i like hoist a lot, just not better than any of their other albums. as for RR and Undermind, i like them better than Micheal Jackson\'s last albums, but they don\'t touch Boyz II Men: II

that isn\'t to say that they are terrible, i just wouldn\'t pop them in to listen to. I get my fix for that type of music from other bands. Anyone who saw phish since RR came out probably knows that any songs from RR or Undermind usually diluted the energy of the show, or at least the set.

i do really like Grind and Mexican Cousin.

Billy Breathes > Picture of Nectar> Rift >  Ghost > Farmhouse

Those are the only ones I own, so therefore the only ones I will rank.

I like alot of the songs off Round Room (Walls of the Cave, Waves, Peables and Marbles, Seven Below) so maybe that should get put on their too.

Am I the only one who doesn\'t listen to Phish studio albums; I only listen to live shows.  I\'m pretty much the same way with the Grateful Dead also.

i don\'t listen to them often, but when i first started listening to phish i just bought their albums like i do with all other bands. at first i didn\'t know about concerts. i was just like "well, live albums usually don\'t have as good sound quality." then you start to realize what live music is all about.

same with the dead. first i was like American Beauty> Workingmans Dead> Terrapin Station. then i got Europe 72 and realized it was all about the live shit.

that said, studio albums are a totally different experience. I love popping in PB or Deuce every once in a while. gotta support the artists

i am the same way.  for every 1 studio song i listen to, i probably listen to 250 live songs.  i dont own any studio phish albums, however i have over 200 live shows.

They rarely play tracks off Blues for Allah or Mars Hotel.

Also, the first release of AxomoxomoxA (yes there were two) has some really cool early electronic music on it (it was totally ruined in the second release, which the CD is based off of).

Dude you are missing out. Phish , unlike almost every other "jamband", has consistently put together solid, if not totally amazing albums (with only a couple exceptions).

Billy Breathes
Nectar
Rift
Ghost
Farmhouse
Lawn Boy
Hoist
Junta
Round Room
Undermind

not counting live ones, "b-sides", Trey\'s college projects, etc

See - I guess that\'s where I differ.  I can pop in Duece or RR or the first album and listen to it from start to finish.  With Phish and the Dead, I find myself skipping through tracks to get to something I want to hear.  I rarely do that with live shows; the exception would be the Dead - anytime I hear West LA Fadeaway, I can\'t hit the next button fast enough.

Here\'s another fun one: favorite phish side project.

For me, it\'s Trey/Mike with the Benevento/Russo Duo
