Tetris for NES scores on Twin Galaxies (it was separate from the others on the site)

Most Points
Most Lines

Get it done, Wolfy... and wear a Breakfast shirt for the event.

And, by the way, Twin Galaxies is an official record keeper for the Guinness Book... not quite an unknown website.

All these Twin Galaxies records are so weird though...what is up with the bottom of the top 10 always being so weak?  The #10 record is 209,312...I AVERAGE about 250,000.  And my best is 655,000 good for second place.  I checked the record scores for Contra on NES and the #9 guy had a score that only requires finishing half the game...I mean, ANYONE who merely beats the game would have the #9 score of all time?  Weird.  I will never break 977,427 in Tetris sorry guys, but I could defnitely do 291 lines.

Also, I could easily take the Contra record...I can play all the way through Contra without getting killed once, and in a normal game I might get killed 3 times but will pick up 5-7 extra lives so I always net more lives than I lose.  Since the game restarts from level 1 when you beat it and you\'re allowed to keep playing by TG\'s rules, I could easily play on forever until I got the max score.

I don\'t think those lists are the Top Ten All-Time Scores... rather, they are the last ten World Records. So you could beat eight of the scores listed, but Twin Galaxies won\'t acknowledge it unless it\'s a World Record. It seems odd for an official record book but, in the Twin Gaxalies err... galaxy, if ya ain\'t first, yer last.

Sounds good Drew.  I looked over a lot of the NES records last night.  Scary how some guys have like 400 records across many platforms.  I am much too busy right now to set up recording equipment and follow all of their submission guidelines, but I could see myself submitting within a year or two if things slow down or if I\'m bedridden for any extended period of time.

Records I can easily take in a couple of tries and/or have already done:

Bases Loaded (biggest blowout)
Top Gun (High Score)
Contra (High Score)
Goal! (biggest blowout - the record is actually open but I can score a very tough 30-35 goals in a game.)
Solomon\'s Key (Game Deviation Value)
Solomon\'s Key (score)

Records that are within my ability to do but would probably take many tries and/or heavy amounts of luck

Tetris (most lines)
Tecmo Super Bowl (biggest blowout)
SMB3 (fastest completion)
RBI Baseball (biggest blowout - tricky because the record is 33 but the game has a 10-run mercy rule so you\'d have to get all the runs in one inning.)
Double Dribble (biggest blowout)
NES Open (lowest score - any of the 3 courses)

Thanks for the hits Dave!  Yeah, these videos are quite the little sensation...a lot of very angry video game geeks leaving comments.  Hilarious.  I had no idea.  I just wanted to have some proof of how good I am for when people say "I\'m so good at Tetris".  Everybody says that but then I always tool on them if we ever play, so I just wanted to be able to say, "Oh really, can you play this?" and then show the vid.  It never occurred to me that anybody would want to watch these or that angry video game geeks would rebel.  These people do not understand Tetris at all since most of them probably never played it.  I left them a note on all the vids, here it is:

***Note to angry video game geeks everywhere***
Well, my Tetris videos have caused quite the stir amongst shut-in video game geeks everywhere. Comments come in every day saying how I should watch such and such video of some guy playing TetrisMax3000 for XBox or some such knockoff because the players are so much faster. You newbs don\'t understand the difference between the game in my videos, TETRIS, and the games you talk about. Tetris is a game that came out on NES, Gameboy, Mac, and arcade in the late 80s, and this is as fast as any of them get and thus is as fast as Tetris has ever been played. I claim this video to be nothing more and nothing less than that. You have to realize that I move the pieces as fast as the game allows. I am already moving every piece BEFORE it is on the screen, just as advanced players do in today\'s newer games. If you are posting, You have probably never played Tetris for NES or Gameboy and thus do not appreciate how insane these vids are. I can play newer Tetris knockoffs at the same speed as anybody else. If you could wire the game directly into my brain, you would see pieces move about 10 times faster than in these videos.

Newer Tetris knockoffs are NOT Tetris even though they might have the name. They allow you to do a lot of things that do not fit the basic spirit and physics of Tetris such as having blocks that don\'t fall or rotating blocks after you\'ve dropped them. That\'s all well and good, but it\'s not the same game even though it has the same name. You cannot compare the two games. It\'s like wrestling and pro wrestling; Wrestling is an Olympic sport that requires great skill...pro wrestling has the same name and also requires a lot of skill and is entertaining in its own right, but it is a knockoff with different rules and is not the same thing as wrestling. What I am doing is TETRIS, or wrestling. Newer games are more like pro wrestling...still hard to do, still fun, not the same game though so don\'t compare them.

Throughout my life, I constantly meet people who claim to be really good at Tetris (the game in the videos) and they always say they\'ll beat me, and nothing gets settled until we sit down to play, which usually never happens. I posted these videos so I could have some portable proof that, in practically every case, these people have no chance against me. That\'s all. I am not trying to insult players of today\'s Tetris spinoffs, a lot of them are highly talented gamers.

Thanks everyone! Enjoy!

Someone wrote that?  I haven\'t read that message board.  Hilarious.  These video gamers are PISSED!  haha.  This is turning into the funniest thing I\'ve done in a while and that wasn\'t even my intention.

i am still not sure how i feel after viewing these clips.....first off.....thats some nice tetris\'n.......i suck at the game but have been in the midsts of some serious latenight tetris, and that is ser..........however........technically (not that I am arguing the point) it could be said that since you are not visable in the video, then who\'s to say its not you but, some other mad tetriser playing as part of some ruse you are trying to perpertrate on the .info community.........

Nah, this isn\'t an issue.  Cmon, that\'s pretty far-fetched.  And besides, if we\'re talking specifically .info community, there are a lot of people in this community who have seen me play Tetris live and can confirm that I play this fast.  Also, if you check my Mike Tyson\'s Punchout video I do make an appearance typing in the code at the beginning of the video without even looking at the screen so it\'s obvious that I am playing and I have skills.  Sorry, but I\'m not going to the trouble of having someone else videotape me so you can see the controler hookups, and then go videotape all the wires behind the TV to prove it was all real.  You\'ll just have to take my word for it.  If I end up going for any of those Twin Galaxies official world records I\'ll have to do all that shit like filming the wires.   For these I was just trying to make some fun vids while I had an hour on a lazy Sunday.

Twin Galaxy Record Update:

I decided to start with the Top Gun high score record (119,200) , since I know it\'s a record I can take down and because I used to play Top Gun with my dad I still have a pile of handwritten sheets of high scores we kept dating back to early 1988.  I popped it in last night just to see where my skills were at, as I haven\'t played it in 5-10 years.  After an hour and ten minutes, I was at 138,000 and for the first time ever I beat the game without getting killed once.  The game loops back to the beginning with your score continuing after you beat it and you\'re allowed to continue on until you get a game over.  I actually shut it off because I was bored, but when I get everything together and record there\'s no telling where my score will stop.  I am looking forward to owning an NES world record.
