Each set was about 70 minutes long. Opening jam > Puppetry blew the doors off the place. It never let up from there. The World Needs Us showed it\'s potential with a funk jam that resembled Buquebus and Over Exposure at times. Funk was the theme of the night. Second set started off with a jazz jam at first then quickly became ditry funk. Buquebus came out of nowhere. The entire jam > Buquebus lasted just under 40 minutes with a majority of it falling under the Buquebus frame. Towards the end they broke it down with solos by Chris and then Matt. This segued effortlessly into What The Funk. I\'m so glad this song is back. Another funky jam followed which eventually slowed itself down to some Allmans. I\'m a fan of this song but was hoping to hear Cut Me Some Slack drop in here. Unfortunately Matt said he was 1-2 days away from being able to play it. The VT Song closed it out nicely and Chris really showed off his skills during this one. Reel Time also showed its potential with the ending jam.

Venue was really cool. It was located on the St Lawrence University campus and is run by a student group. No booz is served there but you can byob as long as its poured into a cup. Lower ceilings allowed for Ellis to light/fog the shit out of the place. Fantastic light show. The sound was also top notch. It wasn\'t as loud as usual, which was a good thing. I haven\'t heard the vocals that crisp in a long time and all the levels were done well as you could walk around the entire room and not lose any member in the process. All in all, a great trip.

Attendance was 80 at its highest but I\'m guessing a total of 110 people made their way inside throughout the night. Props to Frolfer for making the trip all the way from Ithaca. The Upstate crew welcomes you! Hopefully you made it through that white out alright on the way back.

This show wasn\'t taped so ssssssssssoory chip. Don\'t miss Upstate shows.

Great times in the north country. Sick show, I have only seen a couple, but this was the best so far. Almost seemed like each set was one long jam, and the kids had on their dancing shoes! Cool venue, I almost didn\'t find the show because they don\'t hold shows anymore at the old Java Barn. Noise complaints or something. But luckily I stopped to ask a girl where the joint was and she happened to be heading there! Serendipitous.

The band sounds amazing. They keep getting tighter and tighter. Huge thanks to booztravlr and klout for keeping the vibe alive. Thanks guys. Sorry I missed you guys for the caravan back down south. I didn\'t know where I was going exactly and by the time I found the parking lot where you guys were it was deserted. My apologies for making you sit around waiting.

Get ready for breakfast midwest!

Show looks real nice until Ain\'t Wasting > VT Song to close. They\'re playing Ain\'t Wasting way too frequently imo.

Damn shame this wasn\'t taped for jam > Puppetry alone.
The crickets and the rust-beetles scuttled among the nettles of the sagethicket. "Vamanos amigos," he whispered, and threw the busted leather flintscraw over the loose weave of the saddlecock. And they rode on in the friscalating dusklight.  --Eli Cash

really really sick show.

canton rages! can\'t wait till next time!

hopefully some of the many enthusiastic newbs in attendance will be back.

people were really groovin and the band really responded by with a fantastic performance.

It was one of those really high peaking dance party jump up and down sweaty floor stomping rage fests of old.

It was also super funky and dirty with lots of really thick baselines and reggae rythyms.

Throw a couple really epic harmonic convergences.

Some off the wall spacey jams.

Lots of shredding.

a wicked techno section.

And always back to the hard raging classic style

yadaydayda

end of the night Ya got yourself a pretty amazing performance

It was one of those shows where the set list was irrelevant because they just played the shit out of anything they set into. STL, queeb, HB and VT song were all among or decidedly the best versions I have ever heard.

None of the jams were typical.

Also as mentioned I have NEVER heard the vocals so crisp. I could understand every single word they sung which has never happened before.

Dangle threw down so many insane bass lines and solos he is so good he can really carry a show on his back. D-Man side was where it was at last night.

I felt after the show that they had really turned a corner as a group like they did the weekend of red square/mezzanote with matt. or maybe they turned it last weekend. but they were almost there when I saw them 3 weeks ago in ithaca/cuse but now they are past it and really throwing down.  The midwest run and Cali is gonna be sick.  and when they get back is gonna be even sicker.

Can not wait for whatever the next show I hit up is.

side note-the snow was INSANE on the way home I hope the band made out alright as they had to drive 14 hours right through it. It started right outside canton and got really bad really fast. Seracuse was an all out blizzard at 4 am. It took me 50 minutes to drive the last 15 miles of the trip behind a snow plow with both plows down plowing the entire road which had about 6 inches of heavy wet snow and chunked out stuff all over it. Highways were almost as bad and visibility was like 5% because it was snowing so hard and the biggest flakes I have ever seen. The breakfast snow condition predictor is definitely more accurate than the weather man.

But it was well worth it!!!!!

WOW!!! i didn\'t realize they were booked in this venue.  one of my best friends from highschool just graduated from St. Lawrence, and used to be one of the head bookers at this venue.  its such a cool idea, and they get college credit for it (i think).  they def get funded from the school to put on shows every week.

I have been telling him for the past four years to get the bfast in there, and finally now that hes graduated, they do it.

It is for sure a great place to get a whole bunch of new fans.  Most kids just show up and see who\'s playing on a nightly basis, just cause they know how well the venue is booked.

The girl who helped me find the show last night said they might eventually limit the shows to SLU students only, that would suck. I hope that doesn\'t happen, cool tripppp......

Well, the band has over 40 items to carry in. 20 "roadies" X 2 hands= job done in one trip. ;)
