Happiness is seeing YES live.

PROG ROCK KINGS
CELEBRATE FOUR DECADES

Jon Anderson by Tony Stack
Musical pioneers Yes have announced 2008 tour dates to take place this summer. Marking the first national tour for the band in over five years, the 26 date "Close to the Edge and Back" tour will bring the iconic band\'s virtuosic musicianship and exhilarating live shows to amphitheatres and arenas across North America. The tour will kick off July 12th in Quebec City and wrap-up on August 22nd in Los Angeles.

"It feels incredible to gear up and get ready for the road," says Yes frontman Jon Anderson. "We\'re all very excited to play to all of our fans, a lot of which have been with us for almost 40 years. A lot of marriages don\'t even last that long."

The line up for this tour includes founding members Jon Anderson and Chris Squire joined by Steve Howe, Alan White and Oliver Wakeman, son of former Yes keyboardist Rick Wakeman.

"VH1 Classic Presents: Your Move with Yes" in conjunction with the 40th Anniversary Yes tour. Launching in early April on VH1Classic.com, VH1 Classic and Yes will be looking for talented aspiring rock performers to join the band on stage. The winner will be invited to join Jon Anderson in performing "Give Love Each Day" from the album Magnification. Users will upload a 2-5 minute video of themselves performing an original rock song or piece of music. Submissions will be reviewed, and a panel of VH1 Classic judges and Jon Anderson will select three finalists. The VH1Classic.com audience will vote for the winner. Videos submitted and chosen as finalists will also be used in on-air promotional spots during the voting period. Additional details about the contest will be announced in early April.

Only concert I have ever taken 2 percs, a vicodin, drank 2 beers and was more lively than the band.

Yes wrote some amazing music in their time but the last 2 times seeing them left me wanting.

I love YES and the last show I went to with a friend who is all about YES we both sat there wondering WTF? There were moments of inspiration but mostly from Rick and Steve.

Rick is not on board for this tour and I am not spending major bucks to watch Steve Howe when I can see him in smaller places for much less.

i agree that it sucks rick is not on board (we\'re getting his son instead), but it\'s not just about howe. it\'s the combo of howe w/ squire and anderson that is magical. (if bruford were also playing i would not be able to handle myself... he\'s my fav drummer.)

and we should just get a room already! ;)

Oh well yeah if Bruford was playing it would be no debate for me for sure.
We\'ll see. You may have pushed me a bit closer.

now don\'t get me wrong, I love yes, and I love prog music.

That said, yes is the only concert I\'ve ever FALLEN ASLEEP AT. Some of it is just too spacey.

My dad and I watched their taped Austin City Limits show a few years ago - definitely boring.  Sad because some of the tunes they played were classics that were not played to their pedigree.

YES Cancels 40th Anniversary Tour

NEW YORK, NY, JUNE 4, 2008 -– Legendary rock band YES announced today that the group will unfortunately be canceling their 2008 40th Anniversary Tour. The 26-city tour was scheduled to kick off in Quebec next month and run through the summer.

Said Jon Anderson, “In the wake of my recent respiratory attack, doctors have advised me to spend the coming months resting and recovering. Unfortunately, this means I won\'t be able to tour with Yes this summer as originally planned. I\'d like everyone know how deeply disappointed I am by this turn of events. I was looking forward to celebrating our music with the amazing family of Yes fans once again; but as we all know, health must come before anything else. Wishing you all the very best...”

Said Chris Squire, “We were all looking forward to performing for our fans after a prolonged leave of absence from touring. I am especially regretful of the fact that I know many of our fans and friends have probably laid out non-refundable airfares and hotels, etc. in order to enjoy the Yes shows this summer. Please join me in wishing Jon a speedy return to health, which at this point in time is our main concern.”

Yes frontman and founding member Jon Anderson was admitted to the hospital last month after suffering a severe asthma attack. He has now been diagnosed with acute respiratory failure and was told by doctors this weekend that he needs to rest and not work for a period of at least six months or suffer further health complications. Upon receiving this news the band has determined that their tour plans need to be put on hold.

Ticket refunds will be available at the point of purchase.
