http://www.jambase.com/Articles/Story.aspx?StoryID=13274Truly a loss to Music and Humanity.
The last time I saw him was at a SEVA Benefit up in S.F. last year.
I was actually lucky to have formed a friendship with Martin over the past 20 years and will miss that BIG SMILE he always had. Even with a cane for support and in obvious pain he never complained in public and was always very cordial to any and all that approached him.
The way he would reach out his arms and say " Brother Leeeeeith come here" will always bring a smile to my face when I think of it.
His playing with Zero and Jerry has given me and countless others so much joy over the years. I will cherish all the memories I have of the Zero shows and Merl sit-ins I saw and hanging out with Martin discussing music and picking his brain for stories about Jerry, Merl and Kimock.
His heart was as big as he was tall and he played so sweetly that I am sure if you listen close this night you will hear him playing with Jer and the great band they have in Heaven.
