So how can we help the band?

I came up with this idea, and I\'m not sure how effective it will be but its something.
Well, I know that most of us have been pulling our weight and trying to spread the word to as many people as possible the past 8 years, however I think it would be a good idea to do the following.

I propose that each regular .infoer takes on the task of "adopting" 5 brand new fans. This would entail finding 5 people who are interested in the band and basically "shadowing" them until they become regulars .info and are infected with the Breakfast bug.  It\'s a bit more involved than passing out sampler discs to random people. This would entail asking them to go to show\'s, hanging out with them at shows, providing them with as much music as possible. Basically trying to convince them that the Breakfast are a solid entity with a rich music history, NOT a 4th tier bar jamband who play the occasional Doors cover.    I figure if we each take on 5 new fans that they in turn will do the same. It\'s kind of a Pay It Foward syndrome....

So hopefully this resonates with some of you. Remember, this means being involved with the new fan\'s growth and keeping in contact with them. Telling them of upcoming shows. Sending them sick versions of ie Daniel St\'s Buquebus, or Sully\'s TGSOT....

I know we can do it. Let\'s make 08 great!!

Joe, I like the idea.  At my age it\'s hard to get many of friends (or so called) out to shows. But after procuring some of Ken\'s DVDs on my trip out for New Year\'s, I\'ve been lending them to some of the younger guys at work and they have been getting into them quite heavily and I think I can get some of them out during the Midwest run.  Need to direct them to this site.  I think once they see \'em, they\'ll be hooked like the rest of us on .info.  Of course, it\'s a grassroots effort, as a lot of promotion is, but if it works, it will be rewarding to all parties.  This band is too good to remain under the radar.  I\'m in.

I know at least 5 people that would be way more into this band if they knew they would be able to see them. Esp. after hearing the past Daniel St. show.

Sounds eerily similar to forms of cult recruitment. I like it.

And leith is right on. If they start coming around more often I\'m confident I could get 10, that\'s right 10, new fans in no time. My move to the concrete jungle of Chicago will really help my morning jam spread honey-buttah knife get to work.
The crickets and the rust-beetles scuttled among the nettles of the sagethicket. "Vamanos amigos," he whispered, and threw the busted leather flintscraw over the loose weave of the saddlecock. And they rode on in the friscalating dusklight.  --Eli Cash

A great idea. Unfortunately, impossible for me to do around here. No one around here travels distance to go see live music that they don\'t know well. The only friends of mine that do are jazz snots who don\'t like the Breakfast material I have given them. When the band played in Manchester, 20 minutes away, I couldn\'t get more than 3 people to go to the show. Southern NH has no appreciation for real live music. It\'s heartbreaking. I have tried and tried, and for bands other than The Breakfast as well, to no avail.
