His musical ability isn\'t the only thing he brought to the table.

I understand that but the problem again lies in people confusing friendships and band business.
I consider Ron an acquaintance and I am not as friendly with him as I am with Tim, Adrian or even Matt. This has nothing to do with anything other than I have never had the chance to hang out with him as I have the others. On the road he was always doing his own thing and was never part of any late nite fun I was at with the other guys.

SO my perspective is coming from a strictly musical sense. He will be missed but his stage presence just began to grow in my mind so I will miss nothing there and musically I listen to Tim and Matt more so...

Do not think I am not devastated by this news. It sucks on many levels but from what I can tell the band will be just fine. Dobs would not post he is back and not going anywhere for awhile if the band did not have things well in hand.

friendships ? I have not really hung out with Ron all that much over the years. That has nothing to do with it. It is a sum of all the parts to me.

I\'m done no more posting for me in this thread.

I really hope your right about that last paragraph.  Reading this news this morning really has made this a crappy day.

Best of luck to ya Ron....thanks for the music!

The band is going to find another Bass Player. He will shred but there will always be people that compare him to Ron.

I\'m sorry, but without Ron, this is not the same band.  Tim, Adrian and Matt are talented and I think that they should find a bass player and continue making music, but in no way is this the same band.  The core has always been Tim, Ron and Adrian and will continue to be that for me.  Half of the original band is gone, if/when they find another bass player, it will no longer Psychedelic Breakfast/The Breakfast for me.  I\'m sure that the music will continue to be great, but I\'ll give another example (Guns N Roses).  Axl had one or two of the original guys with him at different points in the band\'s career, but without Slash and the rest of the band, it\'s not Guns N Roses.  Without Ron, it\'s not Psychedelic Breakfast/The Breakfast, period!

You prossesed this loss a whole hell of a lot faster than you did the loss of Jordan. Not calling you an ass, just sayin.

Yeah well you have to understand then also I was concerned about the music. Jordan played keys and the loss of an integral part of music written for 4 players was HUGE!

I was also more of a friend to Jordan as I explained in a prior post not so with Ron.

I also have more faith now that Tim and Adrian do not want to go through the rough time they did when Jordan left and have taken measures to assure that the transition to a new Bass player is not nearly as horrible.

Ladies and gentlemen, your new Breakfast bassist is none other than our very own Spacey.

After weeping last night while reading the news and again just now when someone mentioned Intension, I read this post and laughed my ass off.  That\'s effing great...thanks slim!

Ron, I love you like my brothers (one of whom, incidentally, introduced us)...the shows will be so different now without me trying to catch your eye so you know I\'m singing your part, or to make a ridiculous face so you\'ll smirk while you shred an awesome bass line.  You have meant so much to so many, and although I\'m pretty devastated, I know we all have to look at the good side of things too:

Congratulations on becoming a dad...having a family is so important!

Also, congratulations on your decision to pursue teaching.  It\'s one of the most significant professions around, and while you may not notice it in your day to day activities, the impact you have on childrens\' lives is incredible.  You will continue to change people\'s lives through your personal and educational connections to them; your fan base will remain the same, but their age group (although not always the maturity level!) will be much smaller.  :)

I wish you the best and I\'ll be looking for you at future shows...thank you for sharing your talent and music with us for so many years.  We all appreciate it.

This band to me will always be Tim, Ron, Adrian and Jordan.  I think that Matt is great, but I have never seen that incarnation on the band live.  I can live with the band continuing without Jordan, but Ron is a more important part of the band than just a bass player.  Those of you that think that he is just a bass player and can be easily replaced are showing a lack of respect for Ron and all of his contributions to the band\'s music.

Ridiculous. It has been proven Jordan was a HUGE part of the band with his instrument. So much so they HAD to get another keyboard player as the music demands it.

Just because the trio was so tight with each other does not mean Jordan was any less significant.  If the Trio was so damn great and Adrian,Tim AND Ron are truly the band why did they bother getting another keyboard player? Why not keep on with the Trio?

Ron is a great Bass Player but you cannot convince me that he has the same natural talent that Adrian, Tim and Matt have. He does not. I commend Ron for all the extremely hard work he put into his instrument to keep up with Adrian and Tim but it was just that. HARD WORK!
When I first saw this band I thought Ron was not even that great( and this has been agreed upon by others here) but could hold his own. I never thought that about the other 3 in the band.

Ron over the years has proven to me and anyone else listening that he deserves to be on the same stage as Tim and Adrian but he can be replaced without a really drastic change and that is not disrespectful just honest.

i agree 100 %. very well said.

I don\'t. I think the change will be HUGE. Who knows untill it happens I guess.
