More generically speaking; what are some good "Rock Doc" suggestions?
I\'ll check out "I\'m not there" but I have really enjoyed stuff like Walk the Line, Dig, and 24/7 Party People.
My Top 10 Music Movies:Almost Famous - 2000 (fiction)... Cameron freakin\' Crowe, the crown prince of rock journalism. This is the biopic of every band touring in the 70\'s. Sweet Penny Lane, see you in my dreams.
La Bamba - 1987 (biopic), Lou "Diamond" Phillips - I don\'t care much for Richie Valens music, but this movie is a gem. Richie\'s half brother Bob will break your heart carnal!!
Rock Star - 2001 (fiction), Mark Walberg. Comedy, mockumentary, drama gone wrong...I don\'t think Marky Mark even knows, but this movie rules. Rumor has it they tried to get Judas Priest to do the sound track... but they turned it down... hit a little too close to home. It\'s hysterical, but really does a great job capturing what metal is all about.
The Last Waltz (documentary)- 1978, Robbie Robertson, Danko, Helm, Manuel, Clapton, Diamond, Joni Mitchell, Ringo Star, Paul Butterfield, Emmylou, Fuckin\' Dylan, Dr. John, Neil Young, Van the Man... \'nough said.
That Thing You Do (fiction) - 1996, Tom Hanks. There was a moment in the mid-90\'s that I think Hanks could actually walk on water and this movie came out right then. It\'s the perfect movie about one hit wonders. I wonder what ever happened to the O\'neders.
Before The Music Dies (documentary) - 2006 documentary with more stars then I care to name. Awesome performance clips, thought provoking subject matter
Festival Express (documentary) - 2003 documentary, The best of the west coast hippie music scene (and others) getting all kinds of fucked up on a train through Canada... what\'s not to love?
IT\'S ALL GONE PETE TONG (fiction) - 2004: Legendary euro DJ Frankie wild... black black super black comedy, at times you gotta wonder if you really are suppose to be laughing at some of Frankie\'s antics. The big club scene\'s are awesome, and the fact that the crew didn\'t stage them, but just showed up at actual clubs, set up and rolled... is down right silly.
American Hardcore (documentary) - 2006 - The golden age of Punk 79 - 86. If I was Ian MacKaye\'s defense lawyer on his trial for killing Pete Wentz, I would show this movie... all charges dropped. I have no doubts in my mind.
Bob Dylan: Don\'t Look Back - 1967 (Documentary) Bob Dylan. JUDAS!!
Honorable Mentions:The Buddy Holly Story (biopic)
Shine a Light (doc)
Stop Making Sense (doc)
Rolling Stones - Gimme Shelter (doc)
Backbeat (biopic)
The Doors (biopic)
Woodstock (doc)
