Tonight I\'ll be watching:

THE MACHINIST (El Maquinista)

This movie turned out to be a real psychological mind bender.

Quote
Christian Bale starved himself for over 4 months prior to filming, as his character needed to look drastically thin. Allegedly his eating consisted of one can of tuna and an apple each day (approximately 275 calories), although there are conflicting reports on this. According to the DVD commentary, he lost 62 pounds (28 kg), reducing his body weight to 120 pounds (54.4 kg). Bale wanted to go down to 100 pounds (45.3 kg) but the filmmakers would not let him due to health concerns.

I finally got around to watching \'There Will Be Blood\' last night. I enjoyed it but didn\'t see why everyone was raving about it. For anyone who recommended it, besides the last scene (which I thought was the best of the movie) what made this movie good? It just seemed like another movie where an out of control man let all his money go to his head.

There Will Be Blood as a story was alright. The cinematography was very good. Daniel Day was absolutely phenomenal.
The crickets and the rust-beetles scuttled among the nettles of the sagethicket. "Vamanos amigos," he whispered, and threw the busted leather flintscraw over the loose weave of the saddlecock. And they rode on in the friscalating dusklight.  --Eli Cash

I actually saw this movie in the theaters back four years ago (I want to say at the old York Square).  I kind of want to rewatch it now.  I remember it had me intrigued from start to finish.  Very well written and directed in a way that would make Hitchcock proud.

Oh, I\'ll add I saw "Get Smart" this weekend.  Its worth it if you like Steve Carrell. If you don\'t, then don\'t bother.

Next up "Grand Theft Parsons" based on someones recommendation on this board.

Johnny Knoxsville... outside his typical "gettin\' my ass kicked" schtick on Jackass, has done very little to impress me... but this movie could easily change all that.  Gram Parsons is the fuckin\' man!

Really, Leith? I mean, I laughed.  It doesn\'t take much to make me laugh though.

Yeah but I grew up on the show and the way they approached the movie and kept it as dry as the series really got me.
All the little things like Agent 13 in a tree. In the series he always popped up in the weirdest places. Agent 99\'s "Oh Max" was so perfectly delivered and Agent 86\'s lines were spot on except for the finger gesture was missing from "Missed it by.....
The mention of Hymie and then seeing him at the end and the cameo of the original Seigfried were icing.
I do like Steve Carrell a lot though. He just makes me laugh.
Plus Anne Hathaway tearing a dress to show of her legs better is just great film work.

I plan on watching Get Smart, I\'m not sure when (theaters/dvd).

I don\'t really like Steve Carrell, nor the Rock, as since I grew up watching it I\'ll go see it.

Watched "Grand Theft Parsons", what a freakin joke.  Why would you bother making a movie about Gram Parsons if you didn\'t even have the rights to use his music?  Plus it was just a very poorly made movie.  Bad writing, bad acting, bad everything.  Extremely unfortunate.

Oh, and don\'t bother with The Happening either.  Another disappointing release from M.Knight Shamalamadingdong.
