Nice one, dave. Believe it or not, I\'m only just getting into these. Had one show of theirs and then got some nice stuff off the zomb recently.

Can\'t believe you put this up before going to bed, must have been 2.30 am your time - talk about a  quick turnaround!

easily one of the top 10 shows i\'ve seen in my life - something i NEVER thought i\'d say about a show at the webster!

i was expecting a pretty good crowd. friday night, pretty well-known band that doesn\'t come to the states... got there around 9:20, and the lot was full. ended up parking on the street, way around the block. cars everywhere.. when we walked in, i couldn\'t believe how many people were there. the webster was absolutely jam packed. i\'d certainly never seen it that packed before.

the last openers were finishing up while we were still outside. we walked in, and they were tearing down/setting up the stage pretty quickly. ran into Ken almost immediately, then had to wait in a LONG line for the men\'s room, but got everything ready to go in plenty of time, and found a spot right in front of the board.

PT came on around 10, maybe a couple minutes after. it sounded damn good in there, for the webster. definitely the best i can remember hearing it sound.

What Happens Now, Fear Of A Blank Planet, The Sound Of Muzak, Sentimental, Cheating The Polygraph, Anesthetize, Open Car, Dark Matter, Blackest Eyes, A Smart Kid, Way Out Of Here, Sleep Together

E: Even Less, Halo

highlights for me were Fear Of A Blank Planet, The Sound Of Muzak, Anesthetize, Blackest Eyes (the song that got me started/hooked on PT - thanks joe!), and the entire encore. tremendous show, beginning to end. clocked in just under 2 hours total, making it a nice early night. videos accompanied several of the songs (especially the FOABP songs), and they were all incredible. i\'d actually never seen the FOABP video before. wow.

i wish i was seeing more shows. absolutely unbelievable.

boombox - i just started getting into them about a year and a half ago, thanks to treychica.. didn\'t take me long after that to purchase all of their albums. they\'re incredible.

Nice to see you had a good time Dave!! Unfortunately I didn\'t have the funds for the show, otherwise I would\'ve been right next to you helping to pick your jaw off the floor.  I can\'t seem to praise PT enough. By far the world\'s best kept secret rock band.....  well, not for long. I heard the Beacon Theater is almost sold out.  They definetly need to play Oakdale next time around!

holy shit. webster tix were $25. steep for the webster, but imo, CHEAP for a show of this caliber.

The show was also on a Tuesday night, which provided additional support to my decision to stay home.

What are among their best albums?  The only recording I have (courtesy of a tip from Joe) is the BBC Porcupine Tree session.  I hope to check out your recording when I get back to CA next week.

joe started me with In Absentia. that\'s what got me hooked. that and Deadwing exist on DVD-Audio, and if you\'ve got the equipment, GET THEM.

Fear Of A Blank Planet was released earlier this year and is terrific. they just released an EP called Nil Recurring which accompanies FOABP quite well.

i\'d also suggest their live dvd - Arriving Somewhere.

Dave, thanks for the thread, glad you enjoyed the show.  Joe, nice call on the breakdown.  I absolutely love ERA 1 and 2, but have had a very hard time warming up to ERA 3 (I think it\'s the metal edge that I have a problem with, especially from where they came from).  Saw them for the first time in \'95 (probably my favorite show of theirs) and have seen them about 5 times since, but not since the release of "In Absentia".  I do think that "Deadwing" has it\'s moments.  I own the entire catalog except for the new one.  Maybe I need to give the newer material some more attention.
