Who is the best jamband?
« on: November 17, 2003, 05:23:51 pm »
Obviously PB is the best band in the history of audible noise, but who is the best current jamband besides PB?  BTW this is not a "is this a jamband" debate.  If you think the band is a jamband, then just put them in.

My favorites:

Immortals:
1.  MMW
2.  Bela Fleck and The Flecktones

Mortals:
1.  Umphrey\'s McGee
2.  Karl Denson\'s Tiny Universe
3.  Keller Williams
4.  Addison Groove Project
5.  Particle

To name a few off the top of my head:

Garaj Mahal

Anything with Skerik in it, e.g. Critters Buggin, Crack Sabbath, Garage A Trois, Ponga...

Ergot (I\'ve never seen them perform live and I don\'t know if these guys are still together but I have several recordings,  the newest 6-15-2001)

Omninous Seapods

XXXXXXXX======XXXXXXXXX
(mr.)Phish
moe.
Keller *
oh... THe Dead
Leftover
Ween
Alligator Dave and the Couch Band (would fit nicely)
the HUT sessions (ahhh)
Planet 22
Lake Trout (considered jam band at one time)

*playing \'I Could Drink a Case of You\' is beyond belief.

and the list goes on and on... they all rock in their own right.
Be it jazz, blues, funk, reggae, rock, bluegrass... all with their own improve jamming style. It\'s great.
