drew said something about this to me the other day, and totally confused the shit out of me, as i\'ve worn backwards hats in there 2 weeks in a row and no one\'s said a word to me.

is this seriously a "rule"? is it posted somewhere? have people been told no backwards hats? really?

funny how much i liked this place up until mid-week2. yeesh.

only the older lady who works there or owns the place enforces that rule. she just hates backwards hats for some reason. the first time tim played jakes she got mad at me and asked me twice to turn my hat around. i thought it was a joke because she said it to me like she was my 6th grade english teacher and i was wearing a hat in the classroom, but by the third time i knew she was serious because smoke was coming out of her ears.

I didnt see her the first week of acoustic breakfast, so thats probably why no kids and no backwards hats are allowed after week 2.

Yes, she came up to Spacey (the first week) and before she could even say anything, he took his hat off. She said he could keep it on but asked if he could turn it forward.... then proceeded to tell him he has beautiful hair. :wah:

On the other hand, plainandsimple\'s little bro had it backward the whole time last week and nothing was said to him.

I\'ve really enjoyed every time i\'ve been to jakes....but this is all getting a little weird. jake\'s is supposed to be some sort of a bohemian, due it like you want to establishment. i understand they open at odd times to suit their desires. i don\'t get the tension over odd particular things. the kids thing is possibly to discourage any of the 18-20 yeqar old folks that might come with an uncle or something. the hat thing is kind of inappropriate. also....do the kid rules apply to caitlin? i hope not. she certainly is a candidate for an exemption in my book!

here\'s why i don\'t get the kid thing:

they freak about little kids being in there (who are there with their parents, and who obviously aren\'t there to consume alcohol), and yet they don\'t card at the door. :hscratch:

i think maybe it\'s for the other patrons who aren\'t all about kids. i mean i like kids and as long as they aren\'t annoying crying or getting in the way i\'m fine with them but others might not be.  but the point still stands if one or two people leave because of kids it would bring in and extra 5-10 but i guess it\'s not always like that. i mean i would hate to walk into a pre-K bar. as long as the parents have control over there kid i don\'t see a problem but not everyone has control over there kid

The thing is this. She is letting us play in there on Sundays. She has the right to run her bar the way she wants. She is trying to attract a crowd that is not us (for her normal business days), she is looking for the upper class of Wallingford thats who she is catering for. She is also trying to steal the patrons from her ex-husband who owns Michael\'s Trattoria at the top of the hill.

She doesn\'t want kids or crocked hat wooks there but because business is good when the Breakfast come in she makes the exception with hats.

I know this because I have talked seductively to her the time she asked me to turn my hat around. She tried to dip right after but I pulled her in and made her talk.
