I thought it was one of the most boring games I have seen until the 4th Quarter. Spent a majority of it just hanging out at the party and trying to get The Puppy Bowl on.
If you like defense I can see this being a great game for you. For me I like  alot of Offense.

see i disagree...since the giants were such an underdog, the fact that it remained close the entire game made it very enjoyable to watch because you couldnt predict what would happen, and in the back of your mind you were saying "man, the giants are holding their own, they just may win this."

its like a movie that is suspenseful the entire time, but nothing wild happens till the end.  your still on the edge of your seat throughout because the you dont know what will happen.

Yeah but they really were not that big of underdogs unless you only get your football knowledge from ESPN. I knew the Giants would play them tough if not beat them just as I knew the Chargers would not get blown out as everyone said they would(and if LT was healthy the pats would have lost no doubt about it in my mind).

Once I saw the fury the Giants were bringing I really felt the pats would not last. I unlike so many others have just not been impressed by the "perfect season" the pats were having.
I have grown up watching better teams in the Forty-Niners and Cowboys playing better opponents to have fallen for the overrated pats.

I was never really in suspense until NE scored with a couple minutes left then I was all about watching Eli come into his own and lead the Giants down the field.
Worrying is like praying for something you don't want.

Will someone please remind everyone that the Jets and the Giants play in New Jersey - give some credit to the state that actually houses these teams.  If they don\'t want to give us credit, then find some space in NYC to build a stadium!

I don\'t mean to vent about it, but when you live 10 minutes away from the stadium and all you hear in NY NY NY and Bloomberg sees a photo-op and plans a parade, it makes me sick.  We have the teams, we deal with all the fans and maintenance costs - at least call them the NY/NJ Jets and NY/NJ Giants.

NY Metropolitan Jets

Tri-State Giants

Jerz-York Giants

I wonder if the Oakland Athletics will keep Oakland in the name when they move to Fremont in the future.  Eastbay Athletics might work.  Silicon Valley 49ers (if they move).

Remember the old Madden games, where the Giants were "New York" and the Jets were "New Jersey"? Maybe they should do that again.

Vaguely related: The Rams were "Los Angeles" and the Raiders were "Oakland" in those games.

Plaxico is the greatest name ever.  good match-up last night.  i don\'t care for either team but i will say i was pleased w/ the giants win (the patriots were too good this year, i just wanted to see them lose 1 game.  too bad for them it was the biggest game of the season).  my favorite commercial last night was the "what is love" pepsi max commercial.

as a extremely disappointed pats fan, i must say that the giants def deserved the win last night. they played better the whole way. after the pats scored in the fourth my initial reaction was "fuck yeah!", followed by "we did not deserve to win this game". i will say though the giants got away with some serious holding on that crazy play where eli got away and completed that crazy catch. never the less, the better team won yesterday.

btw, is there a bigger pompus ass in the history of the game then mercury morris of the 72 dolphins? what a douche

and ill leave you with a quoate to live by: fuck the yankees, fuck the mets, fuck the giants and the jets

Incredible, amazing time at Super Bowl XLII.  Certainly the most unforgettable sports experience I\'ve ever been to.  What a production inside and outside the building by the NFL and what a game by the Patriots and Giants.

Hard to believe the Giants won, but what can you do?  When you\'re such a great team over so many years as the Patriots have been, at some point you\'re going to take big losses along with big wins.  Eventually you have to, else you would just be winning championships every single year and obviously nobody does that.  Congratulations Giants fans.

It could be a lot worse.  I could be a Seahawks fan, a Browns fan, a Redskins fan, a Chargers fan, a Dolphins fan, etc.  What would I have then?  Meaninglessness mostly.  Maybe a sense of backwards satisfaction from watching some team I don\'t care about win the Super Bowl, but nothing real.  Nothing tangible, nothing substantial, nothing mine.  No trips to the Mountain Top of sports.  A life less lived.

I lost a tough game tonight, but my lot in life as a Patriots fan is awesome.  I lived through a season that others would kill to live through, and I just witnessed as spectacular a Super Bowl as there has ever been.  Life is good.  I\'m fine right now, though to be fair the hard part is going to be enduring the ceaseless coverage going forward, that might piss me off eventually.  I\'m going to need a week off from ESPN.

It\'s been an amazing, unforgettable time here in Phoenix.  I encourage everyone reading this thread to do this once in their life.  Well, maybe not everyone.  First, look in the mirror, and ask yourself, in all serious honesty, "Am I a football fan?  Does it really matter to me?"  If you look yourself in the eye and answer yes, then you have to do it.  You have to get to a Super Bowl.  And know this: The more you think about it, the more you\'ll talk yourself out of it.  You might decide to wait until your team is in before commiting, that\'s understandable.  But don\'t over think it.  Just put your fist on the table, call your most key buddy in the world, and get it done.  You won\'t be sorry.

Goodnight everyone!  Thanks for a great season and a great thread.

Love,

Wolfman

Weak sauce. Doesn\'t strike me as a true fan of his team. I\'d be devastated if my beloved Bears lost in this fashion............ aaaand I\'m sure you are, Wolfman. It\'s okay to shed some web tears, maybe suck on a few .info-cocks for your arrogance. I didn\'t read all of your posts until dave stockpiled them in one post yesterday, and your claim to being a humble fan all season is absurd. I guess some of your "best writing" feels a tad illegitimate now, no? Anyways, just thought I\'d bust your balls because you deserve it. ;)

btw, anyone else enjoy TP\'s half-time set as much as I did? I\'m not even all that crazy about him but it was my favorite Super Bowl performance I\'ve ever seen, even better than JJ\'s ta-ta.

saturday night at davepeck\'s house:

Chris Guaneri: "Who ya betting in the game tomorrow?"
antbach: "I\'m not touching the game, but if I were I\'d put a couple hundred on the Giants money line." (money line bets mean the team you bet must win the game outright, no spread, for the non-gambling folk out there). damn I need to listen to myself.

antbach to ChrisPitch: "Giants by two, 23-21 on a missed FG by Gostkowski" - close enough.

And Giants fans, next time you see me I expect a beer. Explanation on why: when it comes to gambling on sports I am known as a mush, a loser, a jinx, etc. If I wear an NFL jersey on a Sunday, bet the other team, you are guaranteed to win. Anyway, I was in only one Super Bowl square pool yesterday. I had the Pats 4, Giants 0 square. You\'re welcome.

Seth, I am glad to see that the Patriots loss has not put too much of a damper on your weekend. I agree that Super Bowl weekend is something to be experienced by all football fans at least once, and only hope I am able to make it to one sometime before I am 35. Me being more of a hockey fan, I may end up being content with going to the Frozen Four at Ford Field in 2010/11 (whichever it is), though it won\'t be nearly the scale of a super bowl (probably not even as exciting a weekend as a golf tournament), I\'ll make the best of it.

And as for the bickering to the Pats fans about being annoying, egotistical fans and the like, I know some out there (not necessarily hear on .info) who hate this type of fan behavior wear Red Sox hats in the summer, if you know someone who fits the mold, tell them to stop being hypocrites.

And last but not least. I am not a Giants fan at all, but as a Dolphins fan (not one who cares about the \'72 season since I wasn\'t even a thought in my parents minds yet, but as someone who dislikes the Pats), THANK YOU GIANTS.

NOOOOO TIMMMME FOR LOOOOOSEEERSSS CAUSE WEEEE ARE THE CHAAAMpIONS...............................OF THE WORLD!!!

four straight playoff road wins and in the final game the defense holds the highest scoring offense  in NFL history to 14 points.

The team and the city with the most heart prevailed and brought the world championship back to the canyon of heros.

Epic.

I can\'t wait till tomorrow.

NEW YORK CITY Tickler.

Jersey gets exactly the amount of credit they deserve.

Absolutely none!

Wish I could go Blackie. I\'ll be watching. Have fun!
