Well well...guess who\'s the latest team to get caught with their hand in the NFL rule-breaking cookie jar?
SSSSSorry chip. Nice try though.
No, that\'s sorry for you if you\'re really gullible enough to believe this "broadcast error" nonsense. I\'m sure that in reality you know what I\'m about to explain and are just hiding under this to save face. You have to do that, I understand that. But let me explain what is happening anyways in case you truly don\'t understand:
The NFL already took a PR hit to the legitimacy of their best team earlier in the year. In the wake of Tim Donaghy in the NBA and steroids in MLB, the NFL cannot afford another PR hit to their 2nd best team. They are not dumb at the NFL, they know they cannot afford to suffer the same type of scandals that have rocked the other leagues. So the top execs at the NFL get on the horn to the top execs at CBS, as they do every day. Remember,
both sides stand to lose billions of dollars if people start tuning out they way they have with the other leagues.
NFL VP of Marketing: "Guys, you gotta take the fall for this. It was a glitch in the truck."
CBS VP of Sports Broadcasting: "No problem. Hey, they\'ll all kill you if it was in the stadium, but nobody is going to hold anything against CBS for a circuit blowing in a truck. It\'s not even a fall at all. I\'ll get the press release out within the hour."
It\'s a win-win. Both sides were screwed if the truth came out, both sides win with the cover up. It\'s so simple to figure that I wouldn\'t even call it conspiracy, it\'s just smart business people doing smart business. I\'m sure Bill Polian was in the mix too, threatning the career if not the very life of anyone who spilled the truth.
The Colts cheat, you know it, I know it, everyone at that game heard it, and you know what? It doesn\'t matter. Because the Colts cheated and
still lost. That\'s the biggest "sorry chip" of them all.
